Hymn: Chapter 372, “My Duty”
Meditation: Knowing that all I can do is loyalty, let's do our best to take advantage of the opportunity.
Confession of Faith: Apostles' Creed
Text: “The one who had received the five talents brought five more and said, “Master, you have given me five talents, and behold, I have left five more. I will entrust you with many things, enter into the joy of your master” (Matthew 25:20-21).
Our lives are God-given opportunities. We need to think about how we will accomplish God's will through the given opportunity. First, if you look at opportunities, you will see that there are three types. There are still many people who say they haven't been given a chance. On the other hand, there are people who, despite being given the opportunity, consider it a burden rather than an opportunity. And as Paul confessed, there are people who believe that it is the grace of God that I have become who I am, and because I am weak and lacking in strength, I believe that what the entrusted person seeks is loyalty, so there are people who live with an attitude of loyalty and devotion.
In the text, a man went to another country and gave one five talents, one two talents, and another one talent and left.
But the one who received the five talents and the two talents made a profit with them, and was praised as a good and faithful servant. However, the master rebuked the one who received the one talent for being an evil servant.
God has given us all a chance. The talents in the text are opportunities and gifts. It is a talent that has been given to us. The problem lies in the posture. Those who received one talent had a habit of procrastinating. The one who received the five talents and the two talents understood the heart of their master and considered the opportunity given to them, and faithfully took on the task entrusted to them.
They also had a closing ceremony. You must not use what your master has given you. There must be a sense of accountability to avoid abuse of rights or abandonment of duties. Let's all make good use of the opportunities God has given us, like those who received five or two talents, and live a life that leads to prosperity.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, give me the opportunity you have given me to be faithful to death with a sense of accountability. In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen.
