Hymn: 456 (New Hymn 430) 'Walking with the Lord'
Meditation: Man created by God lives in God's will and providence. It is a bad attitude in life to feel bored or meaningless that an ordinary life continues. Let's live a life of gratitude according to God's will in our ordinary life.
Confession of Faith: Apostles' Creed
Text: "Enoch walked with God, and he was not in the world, because God took him" (Genesis 5:21-24).
The people who did not see death in the history of the Bible are Enoch, Elijah, and Jesus. Among the prophets, there are many records of Elijah as a great servant of God, and his ministry was introduced, but Enoch in the text is recorded in verse 3 in the Old Testament and in Jude and Hebrews in the New Testament, but it is recorded that he pleased God. What can we learn from the faith of Enoch, who is the father of Methelah and the grandfather of Noah, who is the sixth-generation descendant of Adam and the longest-lived in the world?
First, he pleased God in his ordinary life. Enoch did no great powers or left great deeds. As the saying goes, “they gave birth to children” (verse 21), it was a common thing that everyone did. Often, some people ask for something special. It is also good to receive special grace and do God's work when it is special. But even ordinary life can please God. Even if you do not leave a great achievement, if you sublimate it through faith, it is God's work. Even in ungodly times, Enoch lived with God for 300 years without change.
Second, we witnessed God in our ordinary life. Enoch lived the life of an evangelist as a prophet. Enoch also prophesied and testified of the Lord of the Second Coming, who came as the Judge through spiritual inspiration, having fellowship with God and communion with God even in ordinary life (Jude 1:14-15). Even in his ordinary life, Enoch worshiped and pleased God with his faith.
Third, Enoch, who walked with God, ascended to heaven without seeing death. The event of Enoch's ascension showed living evidence of the kingdom of heaven, just like Jesus and Elijah. Enoch, who walked with God, by ascending to heaven without seeing death, teaches the saints to prepare with positive victory and faith until the end of the world. Let's apply Enoch's 365 years of life to our 365 days to please God in our ordinary life, testify to God, walk with God, and become saints who prepare for heaven
Prayer: Immanuel God, like Enoch, even though we may not be able to do great things for you, please God and become saints who testify of God. I pray in Jesus name. Amen.
