Title Passover/Exodus 12:1-14
Contents Passover/Exodus 12:1 ~ 14 (Related scope: Exodus 11:1 ~ 14:16)
... And the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying, Let this month be your beginning, the first month of the year, and tell the congregation of Israel, saying,
On the tenth day of this month, every one of you shall take a lamb for his household, according to each family, but if there are too few of them for the lamb, take one with the neighbors of the house according to the number of them. Your lambs shall be counted according to the food of men, and they shall be males, one year old, without blemish; they shall be taken from sheep or goats and kept until the fourteenth day of the month; and lintels and lintels, roast the meat that night, and eat it with unleavened bread and bitter greens; do not eat it raw or boiled in water; eat its head, shank, and intestines over an open fire; do not leave it until morning; digest it soon You shall eat it in this way, with a belt around your waist, sandals on your feet, and a staff in your hand, and eat quickly. This is the Passover of the LORD.
I will go through the land of Egypt that night, and I will strike down all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, man and beast, and I will punish all the gods of Egypt. I am Jehovah. The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you live when I strike the land of Egypt. When I see the blood, I will pass over you, and no calamity will come upon you to destroy it. You shall commemorate this day as a feast to the LORD, and you shall keep it as an everlasting ordinance from generation to generation.

Pharaoh's calamities
Snakes, blood, frogs, lice, flies, evil spirits, poisonous poisons, hail, locusts, and darkness are miracles and disasters that God sent to Egypt through Moses. The reason that such plagues were brought upon Egypt was that Pharaoh did not listen to God's command that Moses gave to Pharaoh, king of Egypt. Moses showed Pharaoh the plagues listed above in order to free the Israelites from Egypt. All of the above are worshiped as gods in Egypt. By beating the gods of Egypt, God revealed the fiction of their religion and the omnipotence of God. However, Pharaoh persisted in the face of disaster before God and continued to increase his disbelief.
Isn't the relationship between Pharaoh and God replaying in our hearts today? It commands us to liberate the human self from sin and the power of Satan, just like the words of Moses. However, the heart of disobedience like King Pharaoh, who possessed the self and enjoyed the power until now, the heart toward the things of the world, holds onto me and does not let go. What Pharaoh's world seeks is abundance, fertility, power, and honor. They pursue them through their vain religion. But God wants men to restore His holy image. Therefore, God's chosen people must be freed from the world that Satan has ruled. Those who disobey God's command will be punished by disaster. However, the heart that opposes God becomes stronger and stronger as it receives disasters. But God finally breaks it and drinks it.
last catastrophe
For Pharaoh, who stubbornly resisted God, the final plague was the death of the firstborn. In a clan-centered succession society, the death of the eldest son is equivalent to the collapse of the main beam of the house, and the death of the eldest son feels a more painful and stronger curse than his own death. Those who oppose God are “by nature children of wrath” (Ephesians 2:3) and are under the curse of eternal death. To make them realize the meaning of their empty lives by making the curse of their death visible, and to win the surrender from those who oppose them, God strikes all the firstborn in Egypt.
Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, bewildered by this curse of death, will give up on the people of Israel. But soon he will deny his defeat and pursue a pursuit to capture Israel again. Therefore, we must escape quickly before Pharaoh's heart changes.
You must leave quickly.
Their roasted meat is a practical preparation for a quick evacuation, in other words a quick escape. In a situation where you have already packed all the household necessities and belongings, it is most efficient to bake and eat. Don't eat and eat after roasting, and the leftovers, whether for sanitation or the meaning of sacrifice, are incinerated and already girded and eaten, so you can leave immediately. Although bitter herbs have practical medicinal properties for indigestion, they also have symbolic meanings of their hard life and escape. It will be to commemorate the bitter life that will never be forgotten and the suffering of the bitter escape.
The lamb used for the sacrifice should be a one-year-old male without blemish, which reflects the character of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God. "without blemish in itself" - "without blemish," "Lamb" - "Son of God," "Sheep or goat" - "Innocent beast, obedient beast." to surpass them as the angels of
Today, this sacrificial lamb is replaced by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross. It is the basis for our salvation from the cursed death caused by our sins and the world of sin. By believing and accepting the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross, we move the enemy from the cursed death into the world of eternal life at once.
eternal remembrance
We became those who ate the flesh and blood of Jesus Christ who was crucified. Today's sacrament replaces the celebration of the Passover. Through the blood of Jesus Christ on the cross, the eternal curse of death has surpassed us. We have departed from the heart of the old Pharaoh, who held onto our ego and would not let it go. It is also the meaning of the bitter crucifixion. Will you go back to Pharaoh to seek the vain glory of the world? We quickly departed from them. Now, every day we pass through the gates of death will be a journey towards eternal heaven.
On the way, "You shall commemorate this day as a feast to the Lord, and you shall keep it as an everlasting ordinance from generation to generation." Let's not forget what you said.
Hymn 199
By carrying the cross of the Lord - you redeemed sinners
Whoever sees the blood and believes in it will escape the wrath of the Lord.
My- A-- His blood-- Passover-- His sheep----
When I see blood--- I will pass over you----
