entry
In particular, when we pray for the pastor, we need to pray for the fullness of the Word of God to come to the pastor and to be able to witness the Word of God powerfully and boldly.
Paul requested these two things from the Ephesian church members while in prison in Rome.
In today's verses 21-22, Paul is showing what kind of relationship he wants to have with the Ephesian church members.
The relationship between the pastor and the saints is very important. The relationship between the pastor and the saints is compared to that of God and us, and the relationship between God and us is compared to that of a shepherd and a sheep. Therefore, God is the shepherd of all of us, and the pastor is the pastor of the saints.
The relationship between the shepherd and the sheep is a relationship of love, trust, and faith.
What kind of relationship did Paul want to have with the Ephesian church members while in prison in Rome?
What kind of relationship should the pastor and the saints, the saints and the pastor have?
1. Paul wanted the saints to know what he was doing.
21- “I want to make known to you my circumstances, and what I am doing, that Tychicus, a beloved brother and a faithful servant in the Lord, will make known to you all things.”
The modern Bible translates this verse as follows:
“Tychicus, my beloved brother and faithful worker, will tell you all about my affairs, how I am and what I am doing.”
The saints need to know what the pastor is doing and living.
Likewise, a sheep cannot be a good sheep if it is not interested in the shepherd.
We know well what Jesus said in the Gospel of John.
John 10:14 I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and they know me
John 10:15 As the Father knows me and I know the Father, so I
I lay down my life for the sheep.
The members need to know how the pastor is doing so that they can pray specifically.
//
Pastors and saints need to know each other well. I know it both from a religious and a human side. You need to know what you do, where you live, what you are thinking, and what you are interested in. In addition, we need to know what kind of things the members want to do spiritually and how mature their faith is.
Only then can we lead the saints to green pastures by the waters where they can rest.
Although Paul was imprisoned in Rome, didn't he write and send this epistle to the Ephesians in order to know the circumstances of the Ephesian church and the circumstances of the saints and lead them into the truth?
All Paul's epistles are like that. Sometimes they strongly rebuke, sometimes they praise, and they encourage us to hold fast our hopes and live by faith.
For example, the shepherd makes plans for tomorrow when the sheep sleep comfortably in the pen last night. Knowing that wherever there is good grass and wherever there is clean, unpolluted water, I stand in front of the sheep in the early morning to lead the sheep to green pastures, through the fields and over the mountains. However, when the sheep do not trust the shepherd, they complain and do not follow. The sheep who complain and do not follow will not be able to go past the pastures beyond the mountains in their lifetime.
The very good God who led his people out of Egypt, the shepherd of Israel, is looking at Canaan and going ahead. However, the Israelites did not trust the shepherd and did not follow the shepherd whenever there was a problem. Except for Joshua and Caleb, who followed God, the shepherd, they could not enter Canaan.
There were problems between Jesus and the 12 disciples.
Jesus knew each of the 12 disciples well. Their personalities, their talents, their occupations...
However, the disciples did not know Jesus well and did not know what he was thinking or what he meant. I didn't even know what Jesus taught me. So it became a problem.
The members need to know what vision our pastor has and what he is doing.
Corinthian church members, Ephesian church members, Philippi, Colossians, Galatia.... All the members of the Apostle Paul knew what the apostle Paul was doing and how he was doing, so they volunteered to donate and gave to Paul.
2 Corinthians 8: 1 Brothers and sisters, let us pray that God has given
let you know
2 Corinthians 8:2 In the midst of many trials of tribulation, their overflowing joy and extreme poverty
You have made them abundantly rich in generosity.
2 Corinthians 8:3 I testify that they should not only do as they are able, but also volunteer beyond their strength.
2 Corinthians 8:4 We earnestly beseech us for this grace and for our participation in the ministry of the saints.
2 Corinthians 8:5 Not only did we hope, but we first gave ourselves to the Lord and
It was given to us according to the will of God.
The churches in Macedonia are the churches of Philippi, Thessalonica, and Perea.
The believers in Macedonia knew how Paul was doing and what he was doing, so they voluntarily asked Paul to participate in Paul's work, even in the midst of extreme poverty and hardship.
2 Corinthians 8:5 Not only did we hope, but we first gave ourselves to the Lord and
was given to us according to the will of God.
The saints need to know how the pastor lives and does what he does, so that they can keep pace with the pastoral work through prayer, material, and time.
In addition, I pray that you will become saints who have the same vision as a pastor in the Lord and work together.
Then we will come to green pastures and still waters.
2. Who are God's servants?
Paul is referring to a person by name in the text. This is a person called “Tychichigo”
What kind of person is Paul speaking of Tychicus?
“Beloved brother”
Saints of the Ephesian Church, Tychicus is a brother whom I truly love.
What kind of person was Tychicus, so that he was loved by Paul?
Tychicus was with Paul when he delivered the relief offerings he received from the Gentile believers in Greece to the church in Jerusalem while traveling in various regions such as Asia Minor and Macedonia.
Later, when Paul was arrested and imprisoned in Rome, he was with Paul, and he became Paul's hands and feet in prison.
He was Paul's ambassador (representative) who delivered Paul's letters to the churches in Ephesus and Colossae on behalf of Paul and also conveyed Paul's will to Timothy and Titus.
Paul is saying the same thing to the members of the Colossian church.
Colossians 4:7-8 “And Tychicus will make known to you all my circumstances, a beloved brother, a faithful servant, and a fellow servant in the Lord. I have sent him especially to you so that you may know our circumstances and comfort your hearts.”
Tychicus suffered with Paul, and he was loved by Paul because he was a fellow worker in the Lord.
Also, Tychicus was a true worker in the Lord.
He was a reliable worker. He was a worker whom Paul could rely on.
There were many sincere workers in the Lord like Tychicus to Paul. Barnabas, Timothy, Silas, Onesimus...
Tychicus was commissioned by Paul to report Paul's circumstances to the Ephesian church members. I got a request. He served as a liaison between Paul and the Ephesian church members.
It was an important task to inform the Ephesian church members about how Paul was living and what he was doing in the Roman prison, and to inform Paul about the situation of the church. This is a dangerous thing that only a sincere person can do.
Because Tychicus was a sincere man, Paul sent the word to the church in Ephesus and the word of God to the church in Colossae through him.
There is something to understand and move on here. So, what is the difference between this and taunting?
What is Tale? Whether for any purpose, good or evil, when you say something unsolicited, it's a telltale. Telling the truth is harmful to each other. And above all else, you lose your integrity.
Who do you consider to be a servant of God? Who is Tychicus?
A person loved by God. He is a sincere man in the Lord.
Who will be a worker like Tychicus in our Ark Church?
Shouldn't I and all the members of our Ark Church become workers like Tychicus?
3. What is the purpose of making known Paul's circumstances?
First, the Ephesian church members wanted to know their circumstances,
The second was to strengthen and encourage the hearts of the Ephesian church members who are in the midst of many trials and tribulations.
22 I have sent him specially to you to make known our circumstances and to comfort your hearts.
The meaning of “comfort” is “to strengthen one’s faith or hope, to strengthen one’s strength, to encourage

Ephesians 6:24 To all who have an abiding love for our Lord Jesus Christ

As the Apostle Paul said to the members of the Ephesian church, I bless you from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, to the Ark Church, to all the saints, and to the servants, peace and love combined with faith.
Grace to all who have an undying love for our Lord Jesus Christ.
