[Patriotism of the Saints] Daniel 6:10-11 2007.07.20. Sunday worship service
1) When a person is born to their parents, their country and ethnicity are determined. You cannot choose your own country and nation. When I came to the world, I was born as a citizen of a rich country or a powerful country, and sometimes I became a citizen of a poor and poor country. Some people are born as gypsies wandering around without a country, and others are born as children of refugees who have lost their country and are suffering from exile. In any case, we have a duty to love our country and people before God, who sent me to this world on such a condition, since I cannot choose that case.
2) The condition of one's birth is divine. And people live their whole lives tied to that condition. Imagine if we lost our country. And what if we were actually enslaved to another country? We had 35 years of slavery under Japanese rule. It was the life of a miserable servant.
3) Today's Daniel of the Bible, he was originally a man from Judah who fell in Babylon. He was brought to Babylon, lived in Babylon, and after the fall of Babylon, became the prime minister in Persia. However, a jealous person persecutes him by making a law that no one should pray to catch him. Even though Daniel knew that the king had put a fish seal in such a law, he opened the window toward his destroyed homeland, Jerusalem, and did not stop his prayers. Daniel's faith toward God and his patriotism to see the country that was destroyed when he was young can be seen in Daniel's appearance.
4) June is a month for Christians to pray while thinking about their country and nation. We have gone through many valleys in our history. They have suffered countless wars, hunger and poverty. There were times when we met national disasters, and there were times when we lost our country. And in this way we are now standing on the basis of this history. What does loving our country and people mean to us now?
1. To love the country is to love oneself.
1) An individual is a united entity within a society, country, and family. Since it is impossible to live apart from such a society, people are bound within the community of a nation and nation. Of course, it is not necessary to be a Korean people to form a country. In some countries, such as the United States, many ethnic groups gather. And although our country is already a minority, there are many cases in which other ethnic groups become naturalized citizens. However, we are a community of Korean people that is universally called a single nation. It means to remember the territory and sovereignty of this country where we personally live and the chapter of history that the people will make here.
2) A nation or country has as many histories as the time that has passed. To love a country is to love its past history as one's own. Knowing our history and knowing our place is who we are in this history.
In the Bible, do not forget the history you have passed to the people of Israel. The history of becoming a servant or the history of splendor, the path you have traveled is all you To love your history is to love your country and people.
3) The people of Israel keep festivals and festivals. Remember the Passover, the Feast of Tabernacles, the Feast of Tabernacles, the Day of Atonement, and all those feasts, the word of God, when you were slaves in Egypt. He tells us to celebrate the Passover to remind us of that miserable time. So, the Israelites remembered the Passover from unpredictable suffering, the night before Purim when death was imminent, and the days of suffering in the wilderness without food. The word of God, do not forget when your people were slaves in Egypt, is the mission of each nation, nation, and individual who overcame that adversity.
2. Christians take the lead in loving the country specifically.
1) A Christian believes his country is a gift from God. It is a place of blessing to give land to a nation without land to live in, to make people prosper when they cannot become a nation, to give them sovereignty, and to live comfortably. So, when a country is in trouble, Christians always appeal to God and do God's will. We have always praised this earth as a three thousand miles garden given to us by our Heavenly Father. And we sing, ?쏬ong live our country, God bless you until the East Sea and Mt. Baekdu dry up and wear out.??2) In the darkest times of our history, during the Japanese colonial rule and the end of the Korean Empire, which are the disgrace of our history, Christian believers took the lead in praying for and saving the country before God. The patriotism movement, national enlightenment and rural volunteer work were started by Christian leaders. Young people like Chae Young-sin of Evergreen Trees by Shim Hoon did this. Among the 33 national representatives who read the Declaration of Independence, 16 were Christians. There were 15 representatives of Chondoism and only two representatives of Buddhism. In the darkest times of our nation, Christians built schools, provided education, and opened the way for the nation to live through the church.
3) In fact, the Korean national anthem was sung first by Christians. In 1892, Daegu Dalseong Church made and sang the national anthem, and there is a record that they sang the national anthem at Pyeongyang Hakdang, Jeongju, Osan School, etc. Similar to the current national anthem lyrics, ?쏧 have no will, so I come with my hand.??The national anthem attached to the hymn was sung at Baejee Hakdang, and it is said that it was in 1896. During the love service for the country, they sang the national anthem with the words, ?쏥od protects our country, live long.??Ladies and gentlemen, the essence of our Christian faith is love for the country. Believers recognize the country as a gift of grace from God, love it, and receive it as a base for nurturing and nurturing it.
3. Christians realize the mission of the age that has been given to us.
1) While going through the history of bitterness, we have been revived by accepting the gospel of God in the turbulent modern history. We are a people with a brilliant history.
The reason Korea was called a peninsular country was because of the colonial view imposed during the Japanese occupation. Before that, we were a great power that ruled the mainland of China. Goguryeo is a continental country that operated most of northern China, and Baekje as we know it was not only part of Chungcheong and Jeolla-do, but also ruled the continent from the Yellow River to the Yangtze River and Shanghai for nearly 300 years from the time of King Goi to King Asin. It was a great empire that extended to Japan. This is usually called Continental Baekje. Then, Goguryeo and Baekje are at war with each other over the territory of China in a place called Gwanmiseong, and King Gwanggaeto of Goguryeo pushes Baekje off the mainland from Gwanmiseong.
2) As claimed by ethnologists such as Park Eun-sik and Shin Chae-ho, who were opposed to the Northern School and colonialism in the late Joseon Dynasty, gentlemen, we, as a Korean people, have made a brilliant history in this land, and realizing this is what we Christians do for the country and the nation. It is patriotism to rediscover roles in this age.
If our history in the past was shining, God is calling us to the kingdom of priests in the last days to accomplish a shining work in this age. After God gave the gospel to the people of this country and created the work of faith, God made it a missionary nation that spreads the gospel to the whole world. Intent.
3) The heart of patriotism that loves the country and people is to do what God wants to do through us, not only for our country and people, but also for all the peoples of the world to which we belong. In all countries of the world, there is no country where the Korean people have not gone, and there are very few countries where missionaries are not out. Although it ranks 11th in the world for exporting business and selling goods, it ranks second only to the United States in sending missionaries to export the gospel. Isn't this the result of God's blessing on us?
4) From a long time ago, people drew maps in the size of the land. This is called a topographic map. By the way, in addition to the topographical map, there are also industrial maps, political maps, historical maps, and so-called influence maps. Influence is a map drawn by measuring how much influence a country has in the international community. This map is actually a drawing of how powerful a country is. The Harvard Institute drew a map of Korea's influence, and it was drawn as having the greatest influence in Asia after China and Japan. And I drew it bigger than most other European countries. The earth is the size of a fingernail, but the influence we have is about 11th or 12th in the world.
Therefore, patriotism is to think about our own work in this age, think about the country and nation, and fulfill the mission God has entrusted to us.
in conclusion
1) Daniel was taken into captivity because his country was destroyed, but there he prayed to God, thinking of Jerusalem, the country that was destroyed. The way he prayed, thinking that God would restore the country quickly and send people back there, that was his patriotic heart.
2) June 20th is a week to look at the six-year-old who bears the pain of the nation. And for us Christians, it is a time when patriotism is demanded by praying for our country and people.
3) Patriotism is affirming oneself as belonging to a country and nation. It's about knowing your past properly. On top of that, it is about knowing and implementing the historical mission entrusted to us in the future. I pray in the name of the Lord Jesus that we Christians will gain the patriotic heart of faith like Daniel.
