Confession of Faith: Apostles' Creed
Text: “God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created them, male and female, and God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply… ” (Genesis 1:26-28)
Word: The title of today's sermon is 'People, love!' Everyone, don't you know how precious a human being is? There is nothing in the world as lovely as a human being. People are more beautiful than flowers. Why are people so beautiful? Because when God created man, he made it that way. In the text, when God created man, He blessed three things.
First, God created man in His image. Man is fundamentally a being that resembles the image of God. God is loving, no, He is love itself. Then, people who resemble God are also beings who love and live. It is to love God. This refers to the office of a worshiper.
The second blessing is found in verse 27 of the text. It says, “God created man, male and female he created them”. When God created man, he did not create one, but two. He made us not to live alone, but to live together. Man is fundamentally a being who lives in relationships. We live in relationships with others in our families, at work, and in all areas of society. Here, the God-given office is that of a companion. When are people happy? It is time to feel happiness among people. So when is the most difficult? It's time to break your relationship. Living as a beautiful companion with others is a blessing of creation.
Finally, in verse 28, God created man and told him to rule well over all creation except man. To govern means to nurture and manage beautifully. The position associated with this is that of a steward or manager.
Humans are built to live as worshipers in the relationship of substitutes, as partners in interpersonal relationships, and as managers in object relationships. I hope this blessing of creation overflows in your home.
Prayer: Lord, as we live, we want to worship with emotion, meet people with love, and faithfully manage what has been entrusted to us. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
