Title: Peter's Sermon
Contents:
Peter boldly testified of the Lord Jesus to the crowds who had gathered from all over to keep the feast on the Day of Pentecost. In Peter's first sermon, the Holy Spirit worked strongly, and 3,000 people repented and reaped amazing fruits.
Peter preached to testify of Jesus.
They tested of Jesus who performed great powers and wonders.
Verse 22 testifies of Jesus who performed great powers, wonders, and signs. The word ‘power’ refers to the supernatural act of Christ, the powerful attribute. ‘Knight’ refers to the attribute of power that occurs mainly in the natural world by power, and the word ‘sign’ is the same word as a sign, which is a miracle that mainly causes humans. All these expressions indicate the divinity of Jesus. In the end, Peter introduced Jesus in this way to correct the Jewish people's wrong view of Christ and at the same time to confirm Jesus as the sure Christ.
It tested that Jesus died on the cross.
Jesus took on all the sins of mankind and died on the cross. Peter testified that his death on the cross was not due to lack of power, but only that he sacrificed on the cross for the salvation of mankind. In any case, we too must preach this cross. This is the Lord's request, and it is a natural phenomenon of those who have received the Holy Spirit.
They tested of the resurrected Jesus.
Peter boldly said that we are all witnesses of this resurrection. I was able to speak boldly because I personally saw the resurrection of Jesus, so I could be a witness. The resurrection of Jesus is also a prophecy of the prophets, but the evidence of those who have seen and touched it with their own eyes is the most powerful. So they tested of the resurrection until they were martyred.
He tested of the ascended Jesus.
The ascension of Jesus is also a fulfillment of the prophecy of the Holy Spirit.
The disciples were able to testify not only the resurrection but also the fact that Jesus ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of God, because the disciples witnessed the ascension of Jesus on the Mount of Olives.
He said that Jesus would come again.
We must believe in Jesus and we must preach Jesus.
I hope that you will live and testify with this faith, remembering that the first sermon of Peter, who served as the counselor of Jesus, has such an important meaning.
