Title Peter's Will (2 Peter 01:15-21)
Contents The Apostle Peter delivered some important truths by testament at the end of his life.
1. The truth about the power and advent of Christ is not a vague story, but a fundamentally important truth.(16) Jesus Christ died on the cross as a payment for his sins and was buried in a tomb. But he rose from the grave. This was a great ability. Even the strong wrestler Kim Il couldn't get up from the tomb, and his body rotted to dust, and Rapole Ong, who said that there was nothing impossible in his dictionary, could not get up from the grave.
Neither saint Confucius nor Shakyamuni had the power to come out of the tomb. However, on the third day our Lord Jesus overcame the power of death by His power, broke through the grave, and came to life. This is not a made-up story, but a witness as someone who saw the empty tomb and saw the resurrected Jesus himself.
This is the gospel that must be preached. Those who believe in this truth will live even if they die, and those who live and believe will never die. Those who believe in this truth can receive the power of life from the Lord and be resurrected. It is a miracle that is more important than any miracle in this world.
In this world, even if you can heal sickness, receive the blessing of fire, and even see a miracle of resurrecting from the dead, it is important while you are alive, and it is not a big deal when you die. Even if you do not see these miracles, if you believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ on the cross for your sins, you will be resurrected from the grave and receive the blessing of living with God forever.
That is why our Lord also said that even though he had performed so many miracles, there was nothing he could see except the sign of Jonah to those who loved miracles. It tells us that Jonah fell into the water and was in the belly of a big fish for three days and then came back to life. The ability to live and die is the most important thing.
2. The transfiguration of the Lord seen on the Mount of Transfiguration (17) Jesus showed Peter, John, and Jacob that on the Mount of Transfiguration, his whole body was transformed into a shining and glorious body. And I heard the voice of God from heaven.
This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; listen to them. All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. However, only Jesus was able to pass through obedience to God and be punished on earth to be transformed into his glorious body. “God has given you honor and glory.” Existence is more important than possession.
Just as it is important to acquire a healthy and beautiful body, knowledge, wisdom, talents, and the ability to earn wealth, what is more important than giving a young child a lot is to give our attention to how much we should not be preoccupied with owning it and honor it. and be transformed into a glorious body.
3. The disciples' education received not only intellectual education but also experiential education. (16) He had seen the majesty of the disciples himself (16b). As he saw the miracle of changing water into wine at a wedding in Cana with great majesty, Jesus experienced divine power. I believed and knew that you have . The Lord was the One who only taught, and he did and taught.
He exemplified and taught. It is the truth because the apostles also preach what they have heard, seen and experienced, not the truth they realized while sitting alone and meditating.
Let us also experience the cross through suffering, become the blessed ones crowned with the victory of resurrection and the glory and honor of God, and spread the word of the power we experienced.
