Title Philip's Mistake (John 6:1-15)

The better you study the content, the more you benefit, and the more you know in the world, the more you benefit. But if you don't know God, it's a big loss. This text is a well-known event as it was dealt with in all four Gospels. More important is the intention of Jesus Christ that this event demands and enlightens us. In the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, there are 5,000, excluding women and children, but in today's text, it is just 5,000.

It might be 2-3 million people. The church has more women than men. And there are more children than women. What is clear is that more than 5,000 men gathered. Why did you use this counting method?

It was also a time when women were despised, but above all, Israel has a lot of wars, so when a war breaks out, you have to be able to draw a sword to be treated as a human being. In the old days, during a physical examination in the military, children were asked to draw a knife. If the sword is pulled out of the sheath, you pass. If you're short and the knife can't be pulled out, you'll have to go home. That's where counting started.

It's not that I despise women, but even now, when war breaks out, women have no power. It is probably male-centered, so even in countries, when calculating the population, the number of male heads is counted first. It is an unavoidable situation. The important thing is that the text says that Jesus wanted to test Philip. Another 5,000 men gathered, but there was nothing to eat. Why did he point out Philip instead of to the other disciples?

During the movement of the twelve disciples, Philip had good intelligence, but in the eyes of Jesus, he was always concerned. The Lord told Philip to give him something to eat to test him.

1. If you do not know the Lord of abundant power, you will be put to shame.

To Jesus' question, "How would you like to do this?", Philip's answer is as fast as lightning. "Even a small amount is not enough for 200 denarii." How fast is the calculation? As soon as the words of Jesus fell, Philip said,

200 denarii is about 6 months to 1 year of work and at least 500 to 10 million won. Even if there is, when there are mountains and a long distance, when do you come to prepare food? No time. How to feed this large number, Philip analyzed and judged the exact number. And I answered.

However, they did not think of the Lord of abundant power. This is Philip's mistake. Philip forgot that the Lord Almighty commanded him, and he did not realize that the abundant power was in the Lord. God can do anything. There are still people who are arguing over the miracles that appeared in his personality, the Red Sea parting, the Jordan parting, Jericho falling, and Jesus walking on the water. They do not understand the principles of life in science. Again, Philip did not know this. How hot is the climate when the Israelites walk through the desert in the wilderness?

It is very cold at night because the temperature difference between day and night is so great. In addition to being in a desperate state of lack of water and food, I felt that it would be better to live as a slave in Egypt. In today's text, I ate a lot and had 12 Gwangjuli left. In a situation where 200 denarii was insufficient in terms of time and distance, Jesus ate a lot with the blessing of five fish, and there was more than 12 crowns left in a large basket. Who would be most ashamed? It must have been Philip.

2. If you only look at the reality and do not know God's plan, you will be ashamed.

Philip's second mistake was to take a good look. However, they did not know the reason why Jesus Christ came or the plan that Jesus gave here today.

Jesus came to solve the absolute impossible. 1 John 3:8 clearly states that Jesus came to destroy Satan's work, which cannot be changed by Satan's forces, doctors, soldiers, and politicians. Sin must surely suffer calamity, but even the president does not have a way to solve the calamity and disaster, but the Lord

Also, although sickness and suffering cannot be controlled by anyone, the Lord can do this amazing work of raising the paralytic and healing the lame, the dumb, and the demon-possessed. It is Jesus Christ who came to solve this problem. As long as you hold on to Jesus Christ, there is no problem. There is nothing that the Lord cannot do if he makes a plan, but Philip did not know it.

Philip saw the reality well, but did not know what the Lord was planning. A large crowd had gathered, but why did Jesus not immediately give him power, but instructed Philip to feed them? After all, why did you call Philip for a test?

When Jesus asks a question, you may think for a moment, 'Why would you entrust me with more than 5,000 men?' But the answer comes out right away. "Even if you feed them little by little, 200 denarii is not enough. Even if you have 200 denarii, how can you feed them enough?"

Why did Philip also make a mistake? What caused Philip to make a mistake without knowing the Lord's plan? It's because of yourself. He knows the area where Philip lives as Philip's hometown, the river, the fields, the shape of the house, and so on. That's the problem. He did not know the Lord's plan in his own mind. And although he accurately judged the reality, he did not know the reason why the Lord had Philip do it.

Peter looked at the waves and fell. Not knowing that the Lord was there, Elijah also looked at reality and was prepared to die.

We must not pray like Philip did. He is not an evil God who puts aside misunderstandings about God, believes that God is a giver, and answers earnest prayers while praying, starving, and lying around. An elderly pastor said that he should fast and pray for 40 days. It doesn't make sense to pray until your intestines are twisted in order to receive God's answers.

God responds according to faith. Why do you pray all night and fast? When we fast and pray, our self is broken the most, we come to know God, and our children and our intellect are separated. We do not respond on a prohibited basis. Philip did not know the power of the Lord. God is a God of abundance.

As long as you realize it, you must realize that God is a God who gives abundantly as much as you can. Philip had to realize suffering. When Jesus asked, ?an you feed these people???I wish Philip would have understood well, but he made a big mistake. Jesus is the One who pours out overflowingly and fills us with just thoughts.

3. If you only know people's methods and do not know God's methods, you will be put to shame.

Philip's third mistake was that he knew the man's way well but did not know the God's way.

We are told to leave the road open for small things, but there are not many things that God has done that ask us to leave the road open. Jesus always allows without opening it. I had to evangelize the pastor when I got a phone call from a missionary organization, but a difficult thing arose.

I'm trying to preach the gospel on a ship, but the Safety Planning Department doesn't allow me to enter. Please pray and I ask you to pray. Shouldn't a heresy not be able to enter if it's thoroughly rejected? I thought it was good. That way, merchants, prostitutes, and heresies will not be able to enter? So I said, "I need prayer. Thank you." I said, "Reverend, that's right." The way God does it is not to leave all the doors open and ask us to come. Whenever we go, God works by faith.

The Red Sea is not divided. In the midst of a great crisis with blue waves crashing and Egyptian soldiers chasing closely behind, Moses took his staff in faith and went and struck it with the staff, but the Red Sea parted.

When crossing the Jordan River at the time of the most water, I said, "Go, go into the land of Canaan," he said. The Bible clearly records that the Jordan River went out when the priest put his feet in the water. If you destroy Jericho and go, who will not be able to go? Turn around with faith that Jericho will fall. God will not give us a way to harm. The harm is if we choose it. Some of the things Jesus taught his disciples, when they went, the door of evangelism was opened and he talked about the resurrection of the Lord in suffering. In Matthew 28, God sees faith when we set up a time when there is no church and we pray together at the most difficult time to receive the filling of the Holy Spirit.

Remember. For church life, gospel work, and the Lord's work, God always gives us insufficient and fills us from behind. God's way at any time is to never tell us to prepare everything before going. Once you go by faith, you can do God's work.

When we believe and move forward, the Jordan, Red Sea, and Jericho will split and fall. It always was. No matter how good Moses was, he divided the land with the 12 disciples before entering the Red Sea. How good are your beliefs? All the land was divided and it was left as it was. If you start with a healthy heart and pray with unity and strength, the Lord will do unimaginable things. The little boy just gave it to the Lord. When we put our faith in ourselves and go forward, we realize God's way. Now Philip's thoughts are the same as non-believers, and Philip's level is also the same as that of Buddhists.

It was not a spirit that followed God's way. In the presence of God, God takes responsibility through faith. If you study children, you are not a good believer. Only, the child brought 5 barley loaves and 2 fish to Jesus. Barley rice cakes are eaten by many poor people. When I was in middle school, I ate a lot of barley rice cakes because I was hungry.

Also, in the original text, fish were called small fish. They were two small fish that could be thrown away or salted and given to the poor. When Moses' staff was used in the Lord's hand, it became a staff of power. Dry bones have become an army of power. It's not a big deal, but when the Lord uses it, it turns into something of power.

If you look at the three reactions after this event, it is likely that the person who felt the best and was crowned was a child. What would you do if you had a zealot left? They say they gave one to each of the 12 disciples, but I don't think so.

I would have given it to a young child. And the child must have gone to the parents to prove it. What is clear is how good the child must have felt. The person I felt most sorry for was probably Philip. You'd probably hang around with customers until they got home. There were other people who were just too excited.

You can see him fleeing to the mountains and praying to avoid the eyes of those who want to make Jesus king. There are three types of believers today. First, believers who do human calculations and use human methods. Second, there are believers who naively believe in the power of God, and thirdly, there are believers who believe in the same thing.

We must not make that mistake today. As we walk through our lives, we need to see reality and judge the world accurately.

Outside, you have to work many times harder to get to know God. Today, I pray in the name of the Lord that you will become believers who know the power of God and do not make mistakes.
