A person is influenced by many people in life. There are good influences, but there are also bad influences. Who has influenced us the most? Paul exhorts us to imitate the image of Jesus Christ through the text and achieve spiritual growth by following the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
1. God in us (verse 13)
Paul makes it clear that salvation is impossible by human effort. Even man's efforts to achieve salvation with fear and trembling are possible because of God's action within man. In other words, it means that God gives the will to hope for salvation and even the effort to achieve it. God has given the saints good hope and the ability to achieve it. Are we saved? The Bible says that we are saved when we believe in Jesus Christ. Paul explains that even that faith is the work of God, not the will of man. It is because God has protected me that I can sit here, listen to the sermon, read the Word, and sing praises. This is the greatest grace and blessing we have ever received. If you have people around you who have not yet received Christ, you should pray for them.
2. Spiritual growth through the guidance of the Holy Spirit (verse 14)
Paul is emphasizing the saints to live a mature life. Such spiritual growth is possible under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Those who are not guided by the Holy Spirit are full of resentment and complaints, and they focus on external things and become jealous and jealous. When there are many such believers, the church will be divided. Paul exhorts us to live pure lives as children of God. When we do anything through murmuring or strife, the glory of Christ is obscured.
Let's take a look at our church through this verse. When led by the Holy Spirit, the church will achieve unity and harmony. Conversely, if you are experiencing discord and brokenness, there will be no guidance from the Holy Spirit.
3. Unblemished and pure (v. 15)
If we do everything without grumbling or arguing, we will be blameless and pure. Chastity means 'without mere craftsmanship'. 'Flawless' describes our outward behavior, and 'pure' describes our inner personality. Lack of finesse means no scheming. A person who is good at tactics cannot be said to be pure. As children of God, we are to show the light of the world as blameless children of God in the midst of a perverse and perverse generation. There is no doubt that today's generation is bent and twisted. In this generation we are to be the light of the world. As children of God, we have His holy nature (2 Peter 14). We must remember this fact and live our lives worthy of our calling.
Although Jesus lived in a weak flesh in an evil world, he always lived a life of blemish and purity before God. Therefore, we too must imitate Christ and live by keeping the word of God with a flawless and pure heart. Then we will be able to live the life of an evangelist who testifies of Christ.
