Philippians 2:19-22 / Working together
Yesterday was National Clean-up Day. I didn't know it either, but I found out because the owner of the house heard a broadcast from the management office and told me about it. After hearing the request to gather in front of the management office by 10 o'clock for cleaning, I put on gloves and went out. It took about 6 minutes for the elderly and the head of the department, so less than 10 people gathered.
The manager said that the area around the apartment had to be cleaned, so everyone grabbed a pair of tongs and a sackcloth and went out through the side door next to the management office. At first, I picked up discarded papers and bottles, but as I went down a bit, I found garbage that I did not know who threw it out by the side of the road, piled up in black plastic bags and dumped everywhere.
I thought it was thrown away at the factory, and when I asked the boss, they said they did not throw it away. Due to the crime of dumping garbage in front of the factory, the boss bought a garbage bag, and a small number of people started cleaning it up. At first, I was hesitant, but as we worked together, it was cleaned up. It wasn't a job to make money, but it felt good because the environment was cleaner and my heart was cleaner because we worked hard together.
What I feel through the hard work we do together is that it is good to see how many people are putting in effort together, whether it is a big task or a small task, and the work is more efficient.
The work of the workplace is to reap the fruits of the hard work of several people, not the boss working hard alone. If you know that a fruit shop sells a single fruit, it is possible because of the sweat of many people.
As such, there are more tasks in the world that need to be done by a group of people than by one.
The same is true of the church. Whatever it is, it is better for the saints to work together rather than for one person to show his ability. The reason for this is because there is a negative aspect that one person's ability becomes meritorious and can have a negative impact on the community. The third is a sense of community that we achieved together.
It is just like small bricks piled up one by one to create a magnificent building, small stars to form a beautiful Milky Way, small grains of sand to form a white sandy beach, and trees to form a green forest.
Even if you look at the words of today's text, there were those who spared no effort in Paul's gospel ministry. Timothy and Epaphroditus appear in the text, but there were also others such as Luke, Mark, Barnabas / Priscilla and Aquila. These people worked together and played a major role in bringing Paul's evangelism work to fruition.
On the other hand, as in verse 21, there were people who were not interested in the things of Christ Jesus but only their own. To say that you are only interested in yourself means that you are only interested in what you are interested in.
The church is a community that unites and cooperates with the work of Christ. It is a community that unites hearts and gathers strength to accomplish the Lord's work. However, if you are not interested in your work, you will fall for it and if you say you do not know me, it is not something you should do as a member.
The Church has been given the Great Commission from the Lord to be witnesses of the Gospel to the ends of the earth. There's too much to do from little to get this done.
However, if all the saints are only interested in their own work and are not interested in the work of Jesus, the church will inevitably face many difficulties in fulfilling the mission entrusted to it.
Which side are you on?
Do you rejoice in sweating and toiling with Jesus?
Or are you only interested in your work?
Don't think too much about doing the Lord's work. Teacher Baek Beom Kim Gu considered it a great task to sweep the yard of the Provisional Government and clean the windows. The Lord's work begins with something as trivial as him.
I ask that you become believers who rejoice in working together from small things while rethinking the rules of life where small things come together to achieve big things.
