Contents Sermon Title: Target
Bible Text: Philippians 3:12-16
Topic Scripture: Philippians 3:14
“Doing the mark, God in Christ Jesus is from above
I follow for the reward of the calling of which I have been called."
A great life is the life of a person who lives with a goal.
The goal is the direction and direction of life. This is the goal we should go to. It is a work that must be accomplished and the ultimate goal that must be reached. It is the highest ideal worth risking your life for. We will go to the target, do our best to achieve the target, and we will fight to set the target.
Paul was a man with a clear goal of evangelism throughout his life. He made the Roman missionary as the target of his specific goal. He tried to go to Rome and preach the gospel if possible (Romans 1:15). Because the goal was clear, he was not ashamed of the gospel he preached (Romans 1:16-17).
The goal is your identity. It is the most powerful way to communicate who you are. A person with a clear goal does not fall for the temptations around him. Because the goal was clear, Paul abstained from dogs and evildoers (Philippians 3:2).
A person with a clear goal is not shaken. Moreover, those who have a goal in Christ never fall. Paul was like a vessel of earth, but because he had treasures, he was surrounded on every side, but he was not crushed; he was troubled, but he did not lose heart; he was thrown down, but he did not fall; he was troubled, but he did not lose heart. (2 Corinthians 4: 7-9) Because he had a clear goal, he knew how to be humble and he knew how to live in abundance. (Philippians 4:12)
Who would live a life with such a goal?
1. A person with a clear sense of mission.
The common opinion of successful CEOs in the United States is that companies and CEOs with a clear mission statement succeed. GE (General Electric), created by Edison, became the world's best company today because it was run with a sense of mission to give light to every American home. Yuhan Corporation is also loved as a company that protects the public health because the purpose and sense of mission of the late Goh Il-han was clear. Paul had a clear sense of duty to evangelize. A schweitzer had a clear sense of mission in Africa. When I have a clear sense of mission in my life, I can see the milestones to be achieved.
2. A person with a clear vision.
Those who live an easy life or are focused only on eating and living will lead a low-level life. Of course, this is not to disparage the urgent livelihoods of the poor. Even if the present life is difficult, it is necessary to move forward with faith that can look to the future.
Vision is seeing. A Christian's vision is a spiritual perspective looking in God's providence. The prophet Joel proclaimed the signs that repent and return people will see after they experience the Holy Spirit.
“After that (even now after you have returned to Me with all your heart, fasting and weeping and mourning) I will pour out my Spirit on all people, and your sons and your daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions... .."
Vision is the milestone of a new life that you will see after repenting and receiving the Holy Spirit. People with this vision have clear goals.
3. A person with a clear goal.
When a person with a sense of mission has a vision through the Holy Spirit experience, he must set specific goals. Goals should be specific and step-by-step. The goal is the step value of the process to be achieved one by one according to the measure of faith.
Paul moved from Antioch to Rome via Philippi for the evangelization of Rome with a travel itinerary. When Jesus heals the sick, he asks if you want to be healed. People who have clear goals for themselves are successful.
When Nehemiah set out to rebuild Jerusalem, he made a meticulous plan to precisely prepare the way of crossing the border and the number of construction days. You must set clear goals for the great creation of your life.
A life with a goal is a success.
You can stand firm. People with a clear sense of mission, clear vision, and clear goals will live a great life that fulfills the kingdom of God and His righteousness.
