Title Philippians 04:11-12 Faith with Contentment
Contents These days, there are a lot of people around us who suddenly become rich or suddenly lose all of their fortunes and become acquaintances. Some people go into debt out of greed and invest in securities, but the stock price they invested in has plummeted, so they have a lot of debt. Some people have it on their backs, while others have started a new venture and have made a lot of money by hitting it.
The problem here is the attitude towards money rather than whether you have a lot of money or not. If you don't have money, you can become humble, and when you have enough money, it is easy to become arrogant and sullen. In other words, it is said that even if you are poor, you will not become humble, and even if you have a lot of money, you will have a heart that is not arrogant. How can that be?
First of all, Paul did not set the goal of his faith on money. Those who set the goal of life on money will not be affected by money. But Paul did not put his faith on money, but on the knowledge of Christ. Then there was no need to be bloated with money or miserable for not having money. That doesn't mean he was an idealist who didn't accept reality at all. He was a staunch realist.
When I first started a new church, the church did not grow as much as I thought. At that time, I set my goal not on the number of members but on how to preach the Word of God more abundantly. Then, even if the number did not increase well, I was able to endure it for a long time, and in the end, it became the fuse of the church revival.
Not only that, but both poverty and wealth are beneficial to Christians. Especially when they are poor, it is a time of special closeness to the Lord. And the Lord makes us poor to do just that. That is why the Lord pours out all of the most precious blessings of heaven on us when we are poor and difficult. And when you are rich, it is time to enjoy the abundance God has given you.
Jesus said that the purpose of coming into this world was so that we might have an abundant life (John 10:10). He allows us to enjoy the riches of salvation in this world. So, those who have faith benefit from poverty and benefit from abundance, but those without faith will complain and sin through all things. I want to have more faith because I will enjoy everything as much as possible.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, give us sufficient faith so that we can bear the grace that God has given us, and pour out more of the grace of the Holy Spirit, especially in difficult times, so that we may be filled with spiritual blessings. I pray in Jesus name. Amen.
