The Philippian church was Paul's joy and crown. However, the Philippian church is having a hard time being united now. Paul exhorts these Philippian church members about the attitude and attitude of the Christian life that they must have. What attitude should we have?
1. Rejoice in the Lord (verse 4)
First, Paul exhorts the saints to rejoice in the Lord. Where there is conflict, we are united
There is no joy in it. We can become one when we rejoice in the Lord. There is never joy in a community full of strife, sin, and anxiety. Paul tells us to rejoice, but rejoice in the Lord.
In life, there are times when it is difficult and sad because of the environment. Then we should not look at difficult circumstances. Only look to the face of the Lord. Then you can restore your joy. True faith is being able to rejoice at the cross even in the midst of difficulties. I hope that you will become the saints who rejoice in the Lord no matter the circumstances and circumstances.
2. Be tolerant (verse 5)
Paul tells us to rejoice in the Lord and then exhorts us to be generous. Tolerance is an image of a Christian who lives with everything in the world as excrement. Tolerance is an attitude you take in dealing with others that includes patience and gentleness, but it goes higher than that. In the life of the church, the members should be tolerant of other members. Rather than revealing the faults and faults of others, we should cover them up and forgive them. The life of a saint who lacks tolerance has no serenity. We can learn tolerance from Jesus Christ. Because Jesus Christ Himself demonstrated generosity. When we are tolerant of people, they will see Christ in us.
3. Do not be anxious (v. 6)
The third virtue Paul suggested is the attitude of not being anxious. We don't get only good news every day. Life sometimes worries us. But we shouldn't be concerned in the face of any problems in life. Because within us is the peace of God who searches our thoughts. Have you experienced the peace that God gives you through prayer? Paul urges us to pray without worrying about anything when we encounter problems. The attitude that believers should take in the face of problems is prayer, not worry.
When we pray for problems, our eyes and attitude toward problems change. Fear disappears and you can enjoy the peace that God gives you. What problems are you facing right now? Aren't you concerned about that problem? Are you hoping for the peace of the Lord to overcome all difficulties?
Christians are people who become like Christ. People who live like Christ. We must have the mind of Christ in us. When we live a life of conformity to Him by faith in Him, we will become His joy and crown. I hope you enjoy these blessings.
