Hymn: 486 (New Hymn 368) Grace to you, Lord Jesus
Meditation: The Bible speaks of the principle of blessing, saying, "To him who has, he will receive, and he will have an abundance, but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away" (Matthew 25 :2) Are you happy with it?
Confession of Faith: Apostles' Creed
Text: He praised God and was praised by all the people, and the Lord added day by day those who were being saved (Acts 2:47).
According to the text, 3,000 people in one day repented and believed in Jesus. It is written that the reason for the addition of these people was that the Lord gave them to repentance (verses 41, 47).
The church is revived and the life of the saints is enriched by the work of God that adds to it. God's work of adding is still happening even now.
Where does God's adding work appear?
First, it is a place of repentance and a place where the Word is added. “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit” (verse 38). The adding work takes place through the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is a Holy Spirit. Where we repent of our sins, the Holy Spirit freely adds to them. The only way is to repent of the sins of the individual and the sins of the community. The 3,000 people who repented and returned received the apostles' teachings. In order to know the Lord more and to understand His meaning, I put all my energy into learning the Word.
Second, it is a place to add fellowship and prayer. He thought of others more than himself and became interested in meeting their needs (verse 45). As a result, they shared their wealth with each other, shared it, and shared food with joy. 'Strive to pray.' The early church members prayed fervently. Prayer should become the life itself of the saints.
Third, it is a place where gathering and evangelism are added. The gathering of saints is not a waste of time, but a time of unity that benefits and blesses oneself. “Every day, whether in the temple or at home, he did not cease to teach and preach that Jesus was the Christ (5:42). The wind of the Holy Spirit winds around the whole church in such a place, and the work of the Holy Spirit takes place in every corner of the church.
Prayer: God, help me to become a powerful and praiseworthy saint. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
