please the Lord (1)
(Genesis 6:5-12)
All people are born to glorify God through worship. It should not be thought that all worship services were performed to praise God. Never try to receive anything when you worship. Giving myself to God is worship. Worship is not only held during worship times, but our whole life should be worship. These are the words of worship we looked at last time.
The fundamental purpose of worship is to please God. It is the purpose of man to please the Lord. [Ephesians 5:10] says: “Test what pleases the Lord.” We must think about what we think, what we say, and what we do to please God the Creator. Magpie (Oh Hye-seong), the main character of Lee Hyeong-se's cartoon, says something like this to her beloved Umji-egi. “I can do anything you want.” Although he lost to Ma Dong-tak, his one word speaks volumes about what love is. Likewise, if we love the Lord, we should be able to do whatever pleases the Lord. As beings who have to live to please the Lord, what can we do to please God?
By counting your heart
What the Lord wants is love. [Hosea 6:6] “It is love, not riches, that I welcome. Know the heart of this God first before you offer your money.” God wants you to know your heart. People foolishly thought that if they offered sacrifices and materials to God, God would like them and please Him. Even today, there are people who have a form of belief that is not different from what people thought at the time. This is a very misunderstanding of God.
God loves us so much that he gave his only begotten son for us. I love you deeply. The Lord already said that I would do anything for us and gave His only begotten Son. However, those who received that love mistakenly believe that God will be pleased if they donate a few pennies. [Haggai 2:8] “The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the LORD Almighty.” What would you like to give to God with what belongs to God? People say the difference between giving more and giving less. But in the eyes of God, that is it. Because everything belongs to God.
Nothing can please God with material things except to love the Lord. We must live a life that pleases God's heart. In Noah's day, everyone made God angry. But Noah was different. The joint translation reads verses 8 and 9 of the text as follows. “But Noahman pleased Jehovah. This is Noah's story. Noah was a very upright man. At that time, I was always living with God to the extent that no one lived a cleaner life than that.” Unlike other people, Noah walked with God and satisfied the heart of the Lord. He was a man who knew the heart of God and lived rightly. Consider and buy the heart of the Lord.
with total trust in you
Noah was a man who trusted the Word of God in a situation he did not understand at all. He did not try to understand, but believed in God. [Hebrews 11:7] details the situation. “Noah was also a believer in God. He believed what God said when he warned of what was to come, even though there was no sign of a flood. And without wasting time, he built an ark and saved his family. Noah's faith in God is in stark contrast to the sins and unbelief of those who were rebellious at that time. This faith made him acceptable to God.” (Modern Language)
God accepts those who trust and accept Him. Noah is an example. When we trust, the Lord also trusts. If we disbelieve, the Lord casts us out. When God warned of a flood, there were no signs of a flood. But Noah trusted God. Noah believed the word of God, but there were some situations where he could not believe it. First, Noah had never seen rain fall from the sky. [Genesis 2:5,6] “The LORD God did not send rain on the earth, and there was no man to till it, so there was no vegetation in the field, and no vegetation in the field. situation. However, despite the unbelievable evidence, Noah believed the word of the Lord. I can't believe it, but believing is believing
Besides that, Noah was not a sailor who could build ships. A person who lives far away from the sea. He has no knowledge of animals. Even though we have to take care of so many animals, we do not complain and follow the word of the Lord. In a word, total trust. God planned the beginning of a new human race with Noah's family who believed and trusted His word to the end. The Lord is pleased with those who trust and fear God. [Psalm 147:11] “He takes delight in those who fear him and those who hope in his mercy.” Noah built the ark on the top of the mountain for 120 years, and while listening to people pointing at them and criticizing them, he never lost his trust in the word. . Without faith it is impossible to please the Lord (Hebrews 11:6).
by obedience to the word
Obedience is doing what God wants, at the time God wants, in the way God wants, without missing anything. Such was Noah's obedience. Sometimes God gives us orders and doesn't explain why. This is the story of Abraham, a man of faith. [Hebrews 11:8] “By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed and went out to a place he was to receive as an inheritance, and he went out, not knowing where he was going.” Obedience is like this. Knowing and then understanding is not obedience. Obedience is what you do when you can't obey. Faith can lead to understanding, but understanding cannot lead to faith. Do not obey to understand, but understand by obedience. There is no stronger instrument of understanding than obedience.
If trusting God is an action that puts weight on the heart, obedience to the Word is the Word of action. [James 2:24] “Therefore, you must keep in your heart that not only faith, but also action must follow faith.” (Modern Language) Total trust and obedience to the Word mean that we understand and love God’s heart. It is a person's religious attitude.
Dear saints,
Noah was a true worshiper who pleased God. Of course, God blessed Noah and led him to live a life of joy. God is happy even now and wants to bless you. [Numbers 6:25,26] “May the Lord smile and look upon you with kindness, and may the Lord look upon you and grant you peace.” There is. May the joy of the Lord be yours, with your heart and love, with total trust and complete obedience.
