Title Prayer, Approach with Answers
Contents
Hymn: 483 “Go Quietly to Jesus”
Meditation: Are you sure that every prayer you pray will be answered?
Confession of Faith: Apostles' Creed
Text: “Jesus answered and said to them, “Truly, I say to you, if you have faith and have no doubts, you can not only do these things that are done to this fig tree, but also say to this mountain,” Be lifted up and thrown into the sea” (Matthew 21). :21~22)
Word: Perhaps the most familiar word to Christians is prayer after God and Jesus. Prayer is the lifeline of a Christian. Saints cannot exist without prayer. What the saints deal with the most while praying is about answers. Many people pray. And most prayers are related to answers. Nevertheless, there are few exceptions to testify of the answer. Those who pray have no strength because they have not experienced answers.
Prayer has a reef. There are many types of reefs, but I will introduce only three. First, it is a prayer that repeats itself (Matthew 6:7). Many people pray. However, it is a vague way of enumerating what I want to say. The object of prayer is not clear. They say they pray to God, but they don't really recognize that God. If prayer is a conversation, there must be a partner. Instead of talking abstractly, I need to ask Him who is with me in front of me.
Second, it is lust (James 4:1~3). Our prayers for answers must have a clear purpose. The God who hears our prayers already knows what we will do when He answers them. If your prayer is predicated on God's answer, you should not insert your own greed. Prayers filled with lust have no answer.
Third, it is doubt (James 1:6-8). The most important thing in prayer is faith. The Bible emphasizes the prayer of faith in several places. Only the prayer of faith is guaranteed a sure answer. If we want our prayers to be answered, we must first check our faith before we pray. God is omnipotent. When we believe in this fact and pray, God is pleased and answers our prayers.
The Lord commands us to pray. He is ready to give us good things and wants to hear our prayers. Hear the voice of the Lord now. Now raise up the prayer of faith. The Lord is on the side of those who pray.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you. Help me to pray in faith and testify of answers. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
