Title: Pride in Us (Amos 6:1-14)

There is nothing wrong with making a lot of money and living well. And it's never wrong to increase your strength to protect yourself.

The question is, how do you raise money? And how to increase power is a problem.

There is one thing the churches on this earth are doing wrong in common. It is confusing revival and growth.

Revival must begin with personal revival. It should be the revival of the whole if each person truly experiences a change through the Word and the number of such changed people increases. He is trying hard to grow bigger than the other person, even when he secretly closes his eyes for any mistake.

Today's verse is a warning message against these errors.

Jerusalem and Samaria were small cities compared to the larger cities of the surrounding great powers. But by the time of Jeroboam II, they suddenly became wealthy.

So Jerusalem and Samaria became bigger and more splendid than any other neighboring cities. In doing so, they lost their identity and the God who loved them and guided them to this day in order to enjoy that wealth.

Only in order to enjoy the glory in front of them, all kinds of expedients were tolerated, and even in their dreams, they hated suffering.

They shunned hardships and became wealthy, and they frowned on how they enjoyed their wealth. I thought the bad days were far away. In other words, I completely forgot about the things I suffered and lived in the past.

So they did not hesitate to commit any atrocities for their own enjoyment. They lied on ivory beds and rolled over, and while lying down they received meals, and if they said it was good for the body and tasted good, they ate sheep and young calves.

It is said that even these days, it is said that they cut the belly of pregnant pigs and eat the young in the womb for good taste, but they were doing such a thing without hesitation.

"Chicking vain songs to the lyre"

It was making people's minds crazy with low-quality popular songs.

In today's terms, I sang a song called "Campion" or other very low-grade song words, such as a rap song, "Chepping".

And I love to sing, so I made a dedicated instrument.

These days, I brought a karaoke device into the house and enjoyed those songs whenever I had spare time.

Amos 6:6 He drank wine from his bowl, and anointed himself with precious oil, and was not grieved over the affliction of Joseph.

They drank wine as a treat. These days, at the welcome party for freshmen at the university, soju is served as a treat. And when they grow up a little bit, they make alcohol into bomb liquor while working.

Also, if it is good for the body, no matter how expensive it is, he does not spare money for dressing up and does not even care about Joseph's tribulation.

Even those who claim to have good faith will sneak back if they seem a little troubled. I only think of glory without suffering.

However, nowhere in the Bible does the Bible introduce glory without suffering.

The blessing of the gospel without the cross and without suffering the pain of sincere repentance is nowhere to be found in the Bible.

Joseph's tribulation is a cross that must be passed for the salvation of individuals, family, and the nation. They throw off the cross and are chasing only the joy and blessings that are right in front of them. So, in order to catch them, the pulpit prepares things that will impress them and waits for them.

When that happens, God can't see such a situation, so He will completely annihilate them.

In other words, the pride that God hates the most while enjoying false wealth is pride.

What do you say about this pride?

Amos 6:8 The LORD God of hosts has sworn by himself, saying, "I will give this city and all that is there to my enemies, because I hate the glory of Jacob and hate his palaces."

God speaks clearly even when he hangs his name. No, he swears.

He says he hates the glory of Jacob. It means to use an appropriate expedient for the immediate benefit.

There is a common mistake that many churches in this land are committing.

We are building big buildings in a hurry to grow. Of course, a building must be built for worship. However, it is clearly wrong to have the saints make donations in an imperfect way by paying debts in order to compete for size as if they were calling for rent. A thousand burnt offerings would be a typical example of this.

First of all, God says that he will completely annihilate the people who seek the glory of Jacob even though they know it is wrong.

He says that the big houses and the small houses built in this way will be torn apart and torn apart.

What they did is that public law and justice should continue to flow like sewage, but public law made them taste bitter like bitter crabs, and justice is like a poisonous poison.

It is said that if you ride a horse down a cliff like a car with a broken brake and have a plowed cow plow a rock with enthusiasm, you will eventually get nothing and everything will be ruined.

It cannot be a sin to live well and to be strong. However, everything that rejects the fullness of the Holy Spirit that God wants to give, is filled with oneself, and puts one's thoughts ahead of God's will is an act of arrogance because it is an act that directly challenges God's authority. If we do not cast off our pride as soon as possible, in the end, not one person will be left behind.
