The procession of glory (Matthew 21:1-11)
Jesus Christ's entry into Jerusalem was the first step toward suffering and a glorious step toward victory after suffering. Look at the crowd cheering for Jesus' entry into Jerusalem. They rejoiced to participate in the procession with the Spirit of the Lord. Through these figures, let us think about our attitude toward following this procession of Jesus even today.
① You need to know who the main character of this procession is (verse 5)- Christ, who stood at the front of this procession, is the Son of God and the savior of sinful mankind. No one can ever have life except through Jesus Christ. He is the only giver of life. You can truly become part of this procession when you know right away that this Savior is this one.
② You must have a heart of devotion (verse 8)-The crowd who participated in the procession waved palm branches and took off their cloaks and spread them on the way of the King of Glory. This is a confession of loyalty and devotion to the king. Today, we who follow the Lord, the King of kings, must also have such a confession of loyalty and devotion.
③ We must participate until the end (verse 9) - There were various reasons for the crowd to welcome the Lord. Some of them followed Jesus because they wanted to gain their own profit when Jesus became king. However, as soon as the Lord went to the death Golgotha, not the throne, they forsook Him. We are followers of the Lord, not me. Therefore, we must not give up until the end and join the procession of the Lord.
How are we participating in this process? When the Lord becomes the Savior of our blessings, we show our devotion and loyalty, but do we not easily forsake Him when there are hardships and trials? Let's not become foolish people who give up halfway, but become glorious saints who live a victorious life by devoting themselves to the Lord and obedient to the end.
