Title: Christ, King of the World

Text: (Psalm 110:1~7)

Hymns: 323. This body that was called

Date: June 19, 2011 (Sunday) 5 am

Venue: Jeonju Yebut Church Small Worship Room

(Psalm 110) is a song that describes God as the King of all the earth, the One who executes His plan for human history. It is also a so-called Messianic prophecy that prophesies and promises that God's reign will be fulfilled through the descendants of David.

1. Christ who reigns (verses 1-3)

In this psalm David foretold the eternity of Christ's reign and the priesthood. Although Christ is the son of David in the flesh, He existed before the foundation of the world and created the world. Christ, who is God, came in the flesh as the Son of David to save mankind from sin. He came not only to save souls, but to rule the world as King. Even now, Jesus Christ is carrying out all the history of mankind with God the Father. Believers who believe in Christ the King can participate in completing the kingdom of God with Christ. In the day of the Lord, which will come in majesty and glory, the holy people of the Lord will come before Him in glory and joy.

2. Christ the priest (v. 4)

Christ, who creates and rules the world, is the eternal priest. He is the eternal and perfect priest in the order of Melchizedek, a mysterious being of unknown beginning and end. As David prophesied, Christ came as an eternal priest, completed the salvation of the people through redemption on the cross, and is still interceding for the saints at the right hand of heaven. With the perfect priestly work of Jesus Christ, we no longer need priests and sacrifices. God the Father swore to Himself that all plans and promises would be eternal and immutable. The people of the world change according to circumstances and circumstances, but Almighty God does not change, so he will surely fulfill his oath and do it.

3. Christ at the Second Coming (vv. 5-7)

As the eternal priest, Christ is the Judge who will judge the world. His judgments are universal and will extend thoroughly to all nations. Even the dignitaries of the world cannot escape the judgment of Christ. Everyone will be judged according to their works. Not a single one who opposes him will survive. All evil powers in the world will be annihilated by the wrath of the Lord. The dreadful final judgment of Christ will be completed at the Second Coming of Christ. Believers should know clearly that Christ judges history and the world, and should put more effort into unwavering faith and godly life. Christ, who will come again, will triumph in the final spiritual warfare, and the church and the saints will also triumph with him. May we live as holy and blameless people of God until the last day.

All of David's Messianic prophecies were fulfilled except for the Second Coming of the Lord. Christ is Ruler, Savior, and Judge. Thank you for being saved through Christ, looking forward to the Lord who will come again, and I hope you will become saints who stand before the Lord as faithful servants on the last day.
