Psalm 119:145-160 / Save me
* If you look at today's text... / You can feel the psalmist's struggles.
- Despite hardships / crises...
& in the midst - longing for the word of God
& You will see them struggling to live / according to the word.
- So, so that we do not depart from the Word of God... / I pray that you will save me and save me.
* Through today's text / What kind of God is... What are the lessons he gives me...
& Let's think about a few things.
1. Verses 145-146
* Now the psalmist is in trouble.
- Enemies seeking their own lives / are gradually narrowing the siege.
** In a situation like this... // What does the psalmist do today?
- I cried out to God with all my heart.
- “God answer me! / God! Save me!!”
& I prayed earnestly.
* Dear friends!
- To check whether the person's faith is mature... / or not...
& when hardship comes - how you react / when you see it / you know.
** People with weak faith - when hardship comes...
& only looking at the situation - worried, worried. / resent, complain.
- However, mature believers - even when hardships come
& not looking at the situation / but looking at God who is greater than the situation.
&, then, pray to that God.
* Today's [opposite of prayer] - It's not that I don't pray / I'm worried and worried
- If I don't pray - I'm made to worry / to worry.
* Everyone! / No worries and worries - please pray.
- Having something to worry about - is a signal to pray. // = Pray!!
2. Also, in the midst of suffering - what does the psalmist do?
Verses 147-148
* Even in the midst of hardship, the psalmist-
& I meditate on the word of God / quietly.
- Even in the moment of hardship // without looking at the difficult situation - Return to the word of the Lord.
& in the word of the Lord - looking for answers.
** I do not meditate on [Suffering] / I meditate on [Word].
- I do not meditate on the [situation] / I meditate on the faithful [God's Word].
* Dear friends!
- What do you meditate on a lot in situations of hardship and crisis?
- When I meditate on my [situation] - Fears and concerns overwhelm me
& When I meditate on [the Word of the Lord] - I gain new courage and confidence.
** Always / quietly meditating on the word of the Lord...
& Gaining strength from the Word / Being guided by the Word
& I hope you all become like that.
3. Verses 150-151
* Far from God's Word
& coming closer and closer.
** But, / who is with the psalmist?
- There is God.
- God is near. / (God be with him)
- I mean / the wicked - how can't they do that!
* And, God came near... / What do you do?
Verse 153
- In trouble / God - sees me - and rescues me.
* Also in the New Testament / Jesus - First, sending his disciples to the other side in a boat
& Jesus goes up the mountain to pray.
- By the way, that night, the disciples' boats were hit by a great storm...
& The disciples were rowing with pain.
** In the Bible / Jesus said - “He saw the disciples rowing in agony”.
-Jesus, God seems to be unaware of my pain and suffering
& no. - Everyone is watching.
- And, to save the disciples - Walk on the water that night
& ran to the disciples.
& And, will you save me?
* Our God today is such a person.
- He sees all our suffering and / our suffering in our suffering.
- And he is the one who rescues us from that pain.
* Also, God comes near... / What do you do?
Verse 154
- God comes to me - He defends me.
- And, you save me by your word.
** During hardship - I often feel lonely as if no one is on my side...
& Come near / May God be on my side
& Advocate for me - speak for me.
- This is what God does when he comes to me in the midst of suffering.
* Dear friends!
- God / even in moments I don't know - comes to my side.
- And, take care of all my difficult problems and rescue
& And, defend me.
** Just as the God of Immanuel - He walked with me this year as well.
& I believe that you will accompany me in the new 2012 as well...
& Without fear / boldly moving forward - I hope that all of you will be like that.
4. Verse 160
* The psalmist confesses.
- [Your word is truth]
- [Your word endures forever]
- I have confidence in the Word.
- Have a firm belief in the Word you hold on to/rely on.
* Even if we say the same thing today
& Depending on whether you have confidence in the Word or not
& Words become strength / and sometimes not.
- Confidence in the word = strength to overcome hardships.
- Confidence in the Word = the ability to face hardships.
* Dear friends!
- always the word is truth / always the word is power
& When we live according to the Word - We live with the belief and certainty that we can win
& I hope you all become like that.
