Today's text is about how Christians should behave in the world and how to get rid of the sins in front of them. In particular, this psalm is a psalm of David and records the duties of politicians. So, when David saw these words, he made himself a mirror, and he also wanted to set an example for future politicians. This psalm sings something that politicians should keep in mind.
However, this poem is not necessarily just for politicians. Today, I am telling parents who run a family, how to live as a boss at a workplace, and as an owner of a business. Above all, it is telling us what God really wants in today's world where injustice and corruption are rife.
What is the flawless path that the Lord wants?
1. The Lord wants love and justice (verse 1).
The ideal figure of a ruler is love and justice. Politics based on love and justice is the most ideal politics. Even a person who is rigidly rigid with the law alone cannot govern his people well. On the other hand, even if you are just as kind as water, the order of the people cannot be maintained.
God is a God of love and justice. If God had only love, we would have been spoiled. Also, if there was justice, I would not have been able to touch it because I was afraid.
The same goes for our homes. Fathers should discipline with justice, and mothers should treat them softly with love. However, if both parents are strict, or if both parents give only love, children cannot grow properly. When children are raised with love and justice, the ideal home education is achieved.
2. The Lord wants us to walk in a blameless way (v. 2).
What is the flawless path that the Lord wants? It is explained in verses 3-5.
1) It is not doing injustice (verse 3).
David swore that he would not do anything unrighteous before God.
2) It is to throw away a crooked heart (verse 4).
A "bent heart" refers to a deceitful person. A deceitful person seems to be doing well at first, but in the end it is bound to fail.
3) It is to throw away lies and pride (verse 5)
God says he will destroy those who slander and lie about their neighbors. It also says that we do not tolerate the proud.
(Psalm 101:7) “He that practiceth lies shall not dwell in my house, and a liar shall not stand before my eyes.”
3. God is looking for faithful people (verse 6)
A faithful person will live with the Lord and live with the Lord. The Lord is looking for faithful people yesterday and today.
May we all practice love and justice, walk in a faultless path, and live as faithful people.
