Introduction

Serving God and living in the world is not a peaceful thing. The Bible says that those who want to live a godly life will face many persecutions. (2 Timothy 3:12) To enter the kingdom of God, you must go through the tribulation assigned to you (Acts 14:22). It was said that there were many (John 15:19). Therefore, it is very difficult to live like a saint.

Why do we suffer in this world?

1. Because they are hated (verses 2-4)

“Lord, save my life from deceivers and deceivers. You deceivers, what will God do to you? How will the Lord punish you? He will punish you with the sharp arrows of the warrior and the charcoal fire of cypress!”

There are many things that believers who believe in God are hated without sin. As a man of God, this cannot be avoided. Only God can be with you and help you. David said that there were more people who hated innocently than the hairs on their head. However, it is said that if you endure patiently, your reward will be great in heaven (Matthew 5:11-12). So, don't be afraid to be hated.

2. Because they live among the wicked (verse 5).

“It hurts! Living with you is like living as a stranger in the hands of the Meshechs! It's like living in a Kedar's tent."

Meshech was a descendant of Japheth (Gen. 10:2), and Kedar was a descendant of Ishmael (Gen. 25:13). Living in them is usually not painful. To live in a wolf is a reckless act that leads to death if it is not an adventure at the risk of life. In any case, for the mentally ill and the sane people to live together, the sane person suffers, not the insane. Likewise, it is painful for believers who believe in God that good people live with the wicked. So Jesus said it was like sending sheep to wolves.

3. Because we live among those who fight. (Verses 6-7)

“I have lived with people who hate peace for far too long. I am a peace lover But when I speak of peace, they think of war.”

It is very painful for those who are trying to promote peace to live with people who are only trying to fight the peace. It is said that those who make peace are the sons of God (Matthew 5:9). Then, it is no exaggeration to say that those who fight are children of Satan. The children of God and the children of Satan cannot form a community. So it is painful. If I could rather live apart from them, I wouldn't have to suffer. It is painful because we have to live together. Therefore, we have no choice but to live while praying.

conclusion

The reason why the saints suffer is because they try to live like saints. Otherwise, if you try to live your life like unbelievers, there will be no problem at all. However, we must become saints who endure and endure, realizing that the sufferings of the present cannot be compared with the glory in the future (Romans 8:18, Matthew 24:13).
