Introduction
It is said that God insists on human life and death (1 Samuel 2:6-10). But if God doesn't help, nothing will happen. Without God's help, not a single plant of grass can grow.
What would we be without the Lord's help?
1. It is impossible to establish a family (verse 1).
“Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain, and unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman’s watch is in vain.”
It is like a house where people live or a temple of God. When God is with us, any house can be built. David wanted to build God's temple well, so he prepared the materials and made thorough preparations in every way, but God did not allow it, so he could not build it, and his son Solomon built it according to God's plan (1 Chronicles 28:1-10, 2 Chronicles 6:8). -11, Psalm 69:9). This means that nothing can be done at will. So, whatever you do, you should thank God.
2. Even the nation cannot be defended (verse 1).
“Unless the Lord guards the city, it is in vain that the watchman stay awake.”
The God who controls history also sets up kings for the nation and plans everything. So the Apostle Paul said, "Therefore, I urge first of all, for all men, for supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings, that we may lead a quiet and peaceful life in all godliness and modesty. and acceptable” (1 Timothy 2:1-3). That's right. We must pray for our country and people. Only then will God protect the country.
3. We cannot live in abundance (verse 2).
“Wake up early and go to bed late, all the toil to eat and live is in vain. Verily the Lord blesses the one he loves, even while he sleeps.”
Of course, the prosperity of the wicked is an exception. Those who will go to hell can become rich no matter how evil they do, and everything can be all right (Psalm 73:1-19). But this is only temporary and worldly. There is a saying in the world. It is said, “The son spends all the wealth that the father has accumulated through evil, and when he goes to the grandchildren, he becomes a beggar.” This speaks of the prosperity of the wicked and the misery of their consequences. It is taught that if a person is diligent, he will not starve and become rich. That is correct. However, a continual and prosperous life is possible only with God (Job 8:5-7).
conclusion
Because human beings are born with the help of God, they cannot live a day without God's help. And I can't do anything. Therefore, we must ask for God's help and receive wisdom to live by relying on Him. We must not live the same way as the wicked (Job 21:15-16).
