we are one
Psalm 133:1-3
How good and beautiful it is for brothers to dwell together in unity, like the precious oil on the head, flowing down on the beard of Aaron, down to the collar of his robe, like the dew of Hermon on the mountains of Zion, where the LORD commanded the blessing. eternal life
Now, we need to be united in order to quickly resolve the aftereffects of the general election and restore stability. “Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace, for there is one body and one Spirit, in the same way you were called in one hope of your calling” (Ephesians 4:3-4).
Then with whom should we become one? We need to find out together and practice it so that individuals and families prosper and become a nation that glorifies God.
First, there must be one
Although the roles of the ruling and opposition parties are different, they exist for the sake of politics and the stability of the people. The most worrying thing after the general election is the chaos of the government. At a time when we are barely passing through the tunnel of the IMF economic system, the ruling and opposition parties will have to unite and make concessions to each other.
In order to do that, first of all, you must learn the art of conversation. Since liberation, Korea has continued to clash between opposing positions. The 'black and white logic' was strong, so there was no concession, and he did not try to acknowledge the other party. But the 21st century is the age of dialogue. Society will move according to the right and just opinions. To do this, we need to learn the etiquette of conversation. First, listen to the other person's opinion, then clarify your point of view and have a fair discussion. The Bible says, “They speak rashly like the stabs of a sword, but the tongue of the wise is like medicine” (Proverbs 12:18).
In order for the ruling and opposition parties to become one, it is also necessary to gather the support of the people. As the saying goes, "People's heart is the heart," it must be possible to embody the spirit of the Constitution that sovereignty belongs to all citizens. All politicians and public officials should fully accept the grievances and pains of the common people, and give priority to their deficiencies. The standard of biblical justice depends on the quality of life of ordinary people. Therefore, the Bible says: “Judge for the poor and the orphan, give justice to the needy and needy, save the poor and needy, deliver them from the hand of the wicked of the wicked” (Psalm 82:3-4).
Second, one between regions
In this country, there are various traditional cultures, local languages and local climates. Though not all regions may have the same thoughts, they exist in one country, so they must be one with each other.
The Bible says, “How good and pleasant it is for brothers to dwell together in unity, like the precious oil on the head, flowing down on Aaron’s beard, even on the collar of his lap, like the dew of Hermon on the mountains of Zion. commanded, eternal life” (Psalm 133:1-3).
We must overcome the regional conflict structure. In this general election, the confrontation between the regions was also evident. The root cause of local sentiment is the confrontation of political leaders. It is difficult to overcome confrontation without concessions and sacrifices. Fearing that the people would be uprising by Jesus, who was raised in the Galilee countryside, the Jewish leaders in the Jerusalem metropolitan area plotted to harm Jesus. Then Jesus said, “You have heard it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy,’ but I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you” (Matthew 5:43-44). You said.
Politicians should be aware that the welfare of local residents is more important than the victory of the party. If the local people believe in and push the promises made by politicians, in return, politicians should consider the welfare of the region before the interests of the party in return. In addition, the people must choose a man chosen by God, such as King David or King Solomon. At that time, God will bless you and this country will become stable and peaceful.
Third, one between the layers
The laws of the Old Testament and the teachings of the New Testament do not allow discrimination or neglect of any particular class. It is God's will to become one between the classes. “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, male or female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus” (Galatians 3:28). Also, the weak and the strong must become one. It means that society should live in harmony with each other.
The Old Testament prophet Amos declared judgment on the rulers of Samaria who were only full of their own belly, saying, “Listen to this, you cows of Bashan, who dwell in the mountains of Samaria, you oppress the poor, oppress the needy, and say to your fathers, ‘Do not drink wine. bring it to us so that we may drink.” The Sovereign LORD has sworn by his holiness: The hour is coming upon you, and one will draw you with hooks, and fish for your remnant” (Amos 4:1-2). said This means that we need to form a strong bond between classes with love and understanding.
Fourth, one between generations
There is no generation gap in the Bible. The Jews called God "the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob."
In Korea, the division between generations is accelerating as the family system is weakening due to the influence of westernization. The distrust of the older generation is also increasing the backlash of the younger generation. At such times, we must unite the hearts of generations with the spirit of love, the spirit of the Bible, and the spirit of filial piety. Therefore, the Bible says, “Children, I have written to you that you have known the Father, and fathers, I have written to you that you have known the One who was from the beginning. and ye have overcome the evil one” (1 John 2:14).
In order for the generations to become one, we must not anger our children. “And fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord” (Ephesians 6:4). Parents need to teach the younger generation the right thing to do and provide a vision. We need to teach them correct ethics and morals, and raise them up as believers who can put into practice the teachings of God's Word.
And children must obey their parents in the Lord. “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right” (Ephesians 6:1). Our parents bore us with blood, raised us with tears, and taught us with sweat. Therefore, we should obey our parents with joy and gratitude.
Fifth, one north-south road
We had an inter-Korean summit from June 12 to 14. This is the first historic event in 55 years of division. God prophesied that divided Israel would become one. “Son of man, take a stick and write on it Judah and the children of Israel his companion. The two will become one in the hand” (Ezekiel 37:16-17). When we become one in this way, God will give us the gift of peace and unity.
God delights in our being one in the Lord. Jesus, who abandoned the heavenly throne and came to the stable to unite mankind, died on the cross to make us one. “The Father, having made all fullness abide in Jesus, having made peace with the blood of his cross, took pleasure in reconciling all things to himself through him, both on earth and in heaven” (Colossians 1:19-20). When we become one so that Jesus' sacrifice is not in vain, God will give us unification as a gift and answer our prayers.
- Prayer -
Heavenly Father, help us with your Holy Spirit so that through unity, the division of North and South Korea will end, peace will come, and the day of unification will come soon. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen
