Introduction
There are so many reasons to thank God.
“Give thanks to the Lord. His mercy endures forever” (verse 1).
But today, we are going to find reasons to be thankful only in the text.
Why should we be thankful?
1. Because he is the greatest among the gods (verses 2-3).
“Give thanks to God, the greatest of all gods. That kindness is eternal. Give thanks to the greatest of all lords. His mercy endures forever.”
The reason we should give thanks to God is that we cannot help but thank God because the subject of our faith is the supreme God above God.
2. It is because God is the Creator.
“Give thanks to the One who made the heavens with wisdom. That kindness is eternal. Give thanks to him who spread out the earth upon the waters, for his mercy endures forever. Give thanks to him who made great lights. That kindness is eternal. Give thanks to the one who made the sun to rule the day. His mercy endures forever.”
You have to be thankful because you are the creator.
3. Because He has saved us from our sins (verse 24).
“Give thanks to him who delivered us from our enemies. His mercy endures forever.”
(Text verses 10-23) tells the story of Israel's exodus from Egypt. This refers to the deliverance of Israel from Egypt. But we should be thankful for deliverance from sin.
conclusion
We should give thanks to God because the God we serve is the greatest, because He is the Creator of heaven and earth, and because He is the one who saved us from evil.
