Introduction
We have many reasons to be grateful. Among them, what are some of the titles to be particularly grateful for? We would like to think about the reasons for gratitude mentioned in the text together.
1. It is because we are blessed in the name of the Lord (verses 1-2).
“Lord, I give thanks to you with all my heart. Before the gods, I will praise the Lord. As I gaze upon Your temple and worship, I give thanks to Your name as I think of Your kindness and Your truthfulness. You have exalted your name and your word above all things.”
The saints are blessed in the name of the Lord. It is to be saved by calling on the name of the Lord (Acts 2:21), to cast out demons in the name of the Lord (16:18), and to receive answers to prayers (John 15:16). Other than that, you will receive many blessings. Therefore, we cannot help but thank the Lord.
2. It is because if we pray, we receive answers.
“When I cried out, the Lord answered me and gave me strength.”
This means that God heard and answered the prayers of the saints. That is why those who have the experience of receiving answers can't help but give thanks voluntarily. There are many people whose prayers have been answered, but I can't tell you how many people are so thankful that they give thanks and praise to the Lord. God promises to call upon me, and I will answer him (Jeremiah 33:3), and asks and he will give (Luke 11:9). So there are many people who asked and received answers. Hannah, Moses, Joshua, King Hezekiah, and many others.
3. It is because we hear the word of the Lord (verses 4-5).
“Lord, all the kings who have heard your words give thanks to you. How great is the glory of the Lord, and they sing of the works of the Lord.”
How grateful it is to be able to hear the word of God. The word of God is, “Behold, the days are coming, saith the Sovereign LORD, and I will send a famine on the land, not a hunger for bread or a thirst for water, but a famine of hearing the word of the Lord, where people will go from sea to sea. They will stagger from north to east and run to and fro to seek the word of the Lord, but they will not find it. We should be grateful to be able to read and listen to God's Word to our heart's content.
conclusion
The reason we should give thanks to God is because we can receive blessings in the name of the Lord, our prayers will receive answers, and we will be able to listen to His words to our heart's content.
