Introduction
Saints should not forget the grace of God, children should not forget the grace of their parents, and disciples should not forget the grace of their teachers. Especially, our members must not forget the grace of the Lord. So the psalmist confesses:
"With what shall I repay the LORD for all his favor? I will take up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the LORD; I will pay my vows to the LORD before all his people" (Psalm 116:12-14).
Then why should we not forget the grace of God?
1. It is because sins have been forgiven (verse 3).
In (verse 3 of the text) it says, “The Lord forgives all your sins.” This speaks of the grace of redemption. To save one sinner like me, he sent his only begotten son, not two, to bear the cross and die. That is why the author of Isaiah says, “He was pierced for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace, and his wounds we are healed” (Isaiah 53: 5) However, how many people who have been redeemed know and repay God's grace?
2. Because we have eternal life (verse 4).
It is said in (verse 4 of the text), “The One who redeems us from the ruin of life.” This is the grace of gaining eternal life. If you save even a temporary life from a crisis, you will never forget that grace for the rest of your life, so how will you pay it back? Even so, the heart of repaying God's grace is more full of complaints and dissatisfaction. So it's not going to happen. We must not forget the grace of God that gave us eternal life. As the lyrics of (Hymn 151) say, ‘Even if I cry all the time, I cannot repay all of your great grace.
3. Because He made us satisfied (verse 5).
In verse 5 of the text, it is said, “The One who satisfies my whole life with good things.” God has redeemed us with the best things in the world and has inherited to us all of his kingdom. And it is to give grace to help in time of need during the days of life. But should we forget that grace? Such a thing cannot happen. If you do that, it will always be a hindrance to receiving great blessings.
conclusion
“The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and unfailing in love” (verse 8). Therefore, we must not forget the grace of God, who gives us all things according to time and with good things, thinking about the grace of forgiveness and giving thanks for receiving eternal life.
