Introduction
There is a difference between the desire of the flesh and the desire of the soul. The desires of the flesh are earthly and earthly, and the desires of the soul are not material, but spiritual, and heavenly. I have titled the wish of the soul to pray to God in a state of affliction of the soul and a broken heart.
What are the wishes of our souls?
1. The soul longs for the Lord (verse 6).
“I look to the Lord and pray with my hands outstretched. My soul, thirsting like a parched land, misses you.”

It was meant to symbolize that. It is like a thirsty deer looking for a stream.
2. It refers to the rest of the soul (verse 7).
“Lord, answer me quickly. It's almost out of breath. Do not hide your face from me. I fear that I will be like those who go down to the grave.”
When you are tired, you are looking for a place to rest. There is no resting place but the bosom of Jesus Christ. As Jesus Christ said, “Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in spirit, and your hearts will be rested” (Matthew 11:28-29). ) did.
3. It refers to the salvation of souls (verses 11-12).
“Lord, save me for your name’s sake, and deliver my soul from all my afflictions because of your righteousness. For the Lord loves me unfailingly, take away my enemies. Destroy those who oppress me. I am a servant of the Lord.”
I ask that you save my soul by your authority and by your impartiality and love. My soul is in a very distressed and weary state because of the enemies, so please save me.
conclusion
The desire of the flesh is to eat and drink and enjoy, but the desire of the spirit is not to eat and drink and enjoy. It is to long for the Lord, to rest the soul, and to be freed from sin and to live a life of joy from sorrow.
