Title: David Rising from Despair

Main text: (Psalm 109:16-25)

Hymns: 91. sad hearted person

Date: June 17, 2011 (Fri) 5 am

Venue: Jeonju Yebut Church Small Worship Room

Despair is so terrifying that it is said that it is a disease that leads to death. But believers need not fear despair. Because there is a God greater than despair. There were times when David in the text also fell into despair. Why did David feel despair? And how did you overcome despair?

1. The cause of despair (verses 16-19)

David's despair was because the wicked hated, oppressed, and persecuted the godly children of God. They did not take pity on the helpless and tried to kill them like prey. He liked to curse, to the point of wearing clothes every day. Even today, Satan persecutes and oppresses believers in various ways. Sometimes the persecution is so great that we feel hopeless. But we should never sit back. You have to stand up again. God surely provides a way out of suffering for those who believe, trust, and persevere in Him. Are you in despair right now? Get up again. God never turns away from His children.

2. David pleading (verses 20-22)

David turned to God for deliverance from a desperate situation. He pleaded for protection and deliverance from the fearsome attacks of his enemies. At this time, David prays that God will deliver him from the hand of the enemy based on God's covenant love. When he came to God in prayer, he went out in a state of humility, poor, needy, and broken-hearted. This is in contrast to his enemies. David also prayed that God would be glorified through all these things. Because if God answers their prayers, the world will know who He is and give Him glory. What prayer are we praying to God now? Do you believe that the glory of God will be revealed to the world through prayer answers?

3. David fasting (verses 23-25)

David prayed earnestly to God, but his desperate situation did not change quickly. He fell into a sense of helplessness that he would disappear like the shadow of the setting sun, a sense of emptiness that he would become like a grasshopper that fell to the ground and died. He fasted and began to prostrate himself before God. Even though my body was weak from fasting, I continued to pray to God. We also prayed earnestly about the problem, but sometimes the situation is not easily resolved and it is painful. Then you should never be discouraged. We must not abandon our faith in God. We must rely on God to the end, and the more difficult the situation, the closer we should get closer to God and bow down. That's the surest way to solve the problem.

Some people end up tragically because they can't overcome their despair. But we must remember that despair is nothing in the sight of God. When God works, despair disappears like snow. Even in a desperate situation that cannot be solved by human strength, please rely on God alone.

<Prayer>

1. Let us look and rely on God alone!

2. May the anointing of the Holy Spirit overflow every dawn and the fire of intercession may be kindled!

3. Heal the weak patients and lead them to the place of worship!
