The mountain of the Lord refers to Mount Zion, where the temple of God is located, and refers to the place of true worship of God. It refers to the place of grace and blessing by going there, fellowshipping with God, worshiping, eating and drinking with Jesus. Today's sermon reveals in detail the qualifications of those who ascend to the holy mountain of the Lord and enjoy the blessings. Who can climb the mountain of the Lord?
“Who can climb the mountain of the Lord, and who can enter the holy place? A person who has clean hands and a clear heart, who is not sold to vain idols, and who does not swear falsely” (Psalm 24:3-4).
1. A person with clean hands.
The hand means action. A person whose behavior is not clean cannot receive an answer to prayer no matter how much he prays to God. Jesus died on the cross for us to cleanse us from our unclean practices. Only when we are forgiven of our past deeds through the blood of the cross can we ascend to God's holy one, the mountain of grace.
2. A person with a pure heart.
Anyone who has died in trespasses and sins must repent. When we repent of our sins, our conscience becomes a good conscience and seeks God. And with a good conscience, I pursue faith, and with a clean conscience, I pursue a bright life. Only those who repent can live with the Holy Spirit. And those who have a pure heart will help those who are afflicted.
3. He is a person who does not care about vanity.
Those who live in this world and set their minds on vanity are not only destroying themselves, but also destroying their neighbors. To set your mind on vanity means to lose your normal mind and become greedy. Believers should be humbled before the Lord and never set their minds on vanity. God never blesses those who have greed beyond their limits.
4. A person who does not swear falsely.
In other words, it is interpreted as “the vows made in the heart are harmful, but they do not change.” When many people are in a difficult situation, there are those who become impatient and make false oaths to God. But just as we do not trust those who break the covenant easily, so does God not trust those who swear falsely. For example, we can easily say, “I will go to church well. I will work harder. I will not miss tithing. I will pray more.” God remembers those who treasure and keep the promises. And he is the one who entrusts bigger things to us who are faithful in the little things, and gives praise and rewards. Just as we keep our promises to people in this world, we can live a blessed life when we keep and fulfill our promises to God.
Who will ascend the mountain of the Lord to be blessed? The right Bible clearly states that he is a person who has clean hands, a pure heart, does not set his mind on vanity, and does not swear falsely. I hope that this family that worships today based on the Word will become Mount Zion, where God is always present, and become a family overflowing with God's spiritual blessings.
