Today's Psalm 25 is full of stories about enemies, betrayal, and hatred. David was a king, but there were too many enemies around him. In the process of becoming a king, he was hated by King Saul and was chased away, threatened to death. After becoming king, he was betrayed by his son and had a hard time being chased away by his son. Betrayed by those you thought were friends, subordinates and followers. He benefited them and built them up, putting them into extreme situations, conspiring to betray David, become enemies, and kill them.
Why was David able to triumph despite these hardships and adversity?
1. He looked only to God (verses 1-2).
From the moment he realized the intimacy of God, His mercy and kindness in the midst of being pursued by his enemies, David feared God, looked up to God, and looked to God (3, 5, 21). They looked up and looked up to God with a heart of fear of God, a heart of reverence for God. All around David were people who hated David. The more I look at those people, the more I get choked, frightened and frightened. But David looked to God in a situation where he could not find any hope anywhere and could not depend on anyone. I lifted my eyes and looked to God in a situation where I was beleaguered. I looked to God who had a close relationship with me. He came to look to the God of mercy and compassion, the close God. It was dependent on God. It is putting hope in God. They looked to God, believing that God would save, protect, and guide them.
2. We remembered God's disposition (verses 7-8).
As he went through such hardship, David's heart was filled with anger and hatred for the traitor, and his heart became stuffy and he couldn't breathe. Amidst the intrigues and attacks of the enemy, he could not sleep at night because of fear. I couldn't even eat, and I was put in a situation where my stomach was bitter and my heart was sick.
In the midst of suffering in all directions, David remembered God's disposition. I realized that God has mercy and love from eternity (6, 10). He remembered that God's mercy and mercy have always been consistently extended from the time of their national history and their ancestors. Also, when I look back on my life, I remember that God has shown mercy and kindness to me at every moment of my life. We remembered that God, who is merciful and merciful, is good (7, 8), upright (8), and faithful (10).
People may betray, hate, or become enemies depending on their interests, but I remembered that God is the one who shows unchanging mercy and love in any case. I remembered that God has compassion, loves, and forgives even sinners who have disobeyed, betrayed, and left. God is the One who teaches the secrets of God through Moses and the prophets and shows the love of even giving a son.
3. I have a close relationship with God (verse 14).
As I remembered that God is so loving and merciful, I realized that God is close to me (verse 14).
It is a confession of the fact that God is intimate. It says that God is a God who forgives, embraces, and accepts even the sinners. I came to realize that God is close to God, like a shepherd, who surrounds and guides the sheep, and even when the sheep is in a dangerous state of entering the mouth of a wild animal, the shepherd spares his life and saves the sheep.
If you look to God and become close to God, God will guide you, save you, and protect you (verses 20, 21), open the way of escape, block the attacks of the enemy, and protect you.
Our God is full of love and compassion. Our God wants to have a close relationship with us. As we live our lives on this earth, I hope that you lift up your face and lift your eyes to see God. I hope that you will draw closer to God by looking only at God and not the people around you.
