Fish in the sea depend on water to live, plants and trees on the ground depend on the ground to take root and get water, and birds in the air depend on the sky to fly. However, human beings were not created to depend on water, earth, or the sky, but on the God who created us, and we were created to glorify God.
The word ‘will’ in Hebrew means ‘to bind together’. The moment we depend on God is the moment we become one with God. Even if the tree is weak, it will not fall over if it is tied to an iron pole. Those who are bound with God by relying on God will not fall no matter what trials and tribulations come. ② It has the meaning of ‘catch up’. Those who live by holding on to God believe that their family, job, and business will prosper. That is why we must hold on to the cross as the lyrics of 'Hymn 270' and go out victoriously every day. ③ It has the meaning of ‘stay’. Our hearts must always remain on God to have peace of mind. When a person cannot find a place to settle in his heart, he wanders.
Wherever we are, we need to consider whether we are bound to God, holding on to God, or staying with God. God wants us to settle for Him.
“Do not trust in a strong man, nor in a man who is unable to save” (Psalm 146:3).
Our life has its limits. But God has infinite power to help us forever. So, we must always depend on God to live. What will happen to those who depend only on God?
First, you will receive God's help (verse 7a).
God's help is with those who depend on God. We need God's help every day. No matter where we are, we cannot do anything without God's help. So we must always depend on God. Even a single piece of grass takes root and digs in to depend on the ground. The grass can get help from the ground. When you catch a fish and get it out of the water, it struggles to jump into the water. Fish cannot exist without water. If we struggle and strive to depend on God while we live on this earth, God will always be our help, our shield, and our resting place.
(Psalm 42:5) says, “My soul, why are you so discouraged, and why are you so troubled? you wait for God Now I will praise my God again, my Savior.”
When I do not hope for God, my soul is discouraged. Those who do not receive God's help will always be dominated by anxiety and fear. Why does anxiety come? Because they don't depend on God. Those who depend on God believe that God will surely help them and take responsibility for them.
Second, there will be great joy and praise (verse 7b).
Those who depend on God will have great joy that cannot be found in this world.
① It is the joy of salvation. “Then my soul will rejoice in the Lord, and I will greatly rejoice in your salvation” (Psalm 35:9). Those who have the joy of salvation can triumph in any difficulty. The joys of the world are only temporary. It can't last forever. But the joy of salvation is eternal. The joy of salvation does not depend on any circumstance or circumstance. This joy is eternal joy. When we possess this joy that the Lord has given us, everyone about the Lord is lovely, and everything about the Lord becomes enjoyable.
② It is the joy of the Holy Spirit. “You have become imitators of us and of the Lord by receiving the word with joy from the Holy Spirit, even through many afflictions.” (1 Thessalonians 1:6) This joy is the joy that can overcome many tribulations. If you have the joy of the Holy Spirit, your thoughts themselves change everything into a positive one. When the joy of the Holy Spirit comes into my heart, all the hopes I had in my heart are changed into the things the Holy Spirit wants, pleases, and wants to do for us. Even if there are tribulations of one kind or another while we live in this world, the joy of the Holy Spirit enables us to rejoice even in them.
Third, to bring blessings to your family and business (verse 9).
Those who trust in God will bless them with peace and prosperity in everything they do. (Jeremiah 17:7-8) also says, “But those who trust in the Lord will be blessed. He is like a tree planted by the water, with his roots extended by the stream, and his leaves are always green, so there is no worry when the heat comes, and no worries even when the drought is severe. That tree always bears fruit.”
May you become a person who is always bound to God, clinging to God, remaining in God and relying on the Lord, and may receive God's help, overflowing with great joy and praise, and blessings of peace and prosperity in your home and business. Blessing in the name of the Lord do.
