In Psalm 29, the word “the voice of the Lord” appears ‘seven times’, and the main concern of this psalm is the voice of God, the power and power of God’s voice. David uses the name “Lord” 18 times throughout this psalm, and in Hebrew “Kol Yehowain” “Voice of the Lord” 7 times. The poet who discovered God through natural phenomena connects this with God's power and the work of salvation. In particular, the majesty of the voice of the Lord is sung seven times and praised in seven ways. Like the seven colors of the rainbow, God's attributes and power are praised from seven perspectives. He sings of the fullness and majesty and glory of the Lord's voice. Furthermore, while listening to the majestic voice of the Lord, we are praising the Lord of glory.

How should we praise the Lord?

First, we must give all glory to the Lord (verses 1-2).

The chief purpose of the saint is to glorify God and to please him for eternity. The saints do not live for my own glory. In any case, the purpose is to glorify God. It is a life in which we forsake ourselves for the glory of the Lord and only glorify God.

Why am I raising my children? Why do I make money? Why am I in business? It is done only for the glory of God. When we have some difficulties, we need to be concerned about whether God's glory is hidden through them. The problem is not that I lose money, but that I cannot glorify God because of the difficulties. Even if I suffer a loss, if only the glory of God is raised, I should rejoice and give thanks. We were created and used for the glory of God. That's why the Apostle Paul said, "Whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it for the glory of God." Many people in the world fight each other when it comes to their own glory. However, our members must take the lead in doing things for the glory of God.

Second, we must praise the Lord who rules all things in nature (verse 3).

After the end of the prelude in verses 1-2, verses 3 and below praise God's coming in the storm. Here David sees the glory and power of God manifest as he hears the thunder in the storm. To say that the voice of the Lord is above the waters speaks of the Lord who rules the storm and the sea in the stormy sea. In the Old Testament, God parted the Red Sea, and in the New Testament, He is the Lord who calmed the stormy Sea of Galilee. The voice of the Lord strikes and reigns over the waters and many waters.

Third, we must praise the Lord as King in the temple (verses 10-11).

According to the myth, Marduk of Babylon built his house, a temple, in heaven after he conquered Tiamat, the sea god of chaos. The Israelites at that time must have known almost all of these myths. Therefore, the psalmist confesses that God, the King of kings, conquered the flood, the symbol of chaos, and took a seat after the flood, and established his kingship. Again, we need to know that Jehovah God, not Marduk or Baal, is the Lord who conquers the flood and rules over all things. The flood is not an object of fear and destruction, but an instrument of the Lord. The Lord is the Lord of the universe and the King of all.

(Verse 11) The Word is the conclusion and gives strength to all who believe and trust in the Lord.

“The Lord gives strength to His people. The Lord blesses the people who follow him."

The Lord is victorious and gives strength to His people. In other words, He protects His people, gives them peace, and guides them on the path of blessing. Now, with this confidence, we must go out praising the Lord, confident that He will bless His people. When we long for the Lord's temple and worship the victorious Lord in that temple, we will receive grace, peace, and blessings.
