Text: (Psalm 31:1-24)

Hymns: 272. To take off the yoke of pain

Date: June 29, 2010 (Tuesday) 5 am

Venue: Jeonju Yebut Church Small Worship Room

With Psalm 31, David teaches us a precious truth that he once learned through fiery suffering. The suffering he suffered while being branded as a political rival to King Saul was so severe that it would not be an exaggeration to say that it was an exaggeration to say that it was the podium of hell. But what did he realize after he had tasted all that pain and passed through the tunnel of pain?

First, suffering turns us to God (v. 1).

What does 'avoid' mean? As we know it well, it can be said to ‘call on the name of God’, ‘believe and depend on God’, or ‘fear God’. Because the entire 31st chapter records the graces that David experienced during the period of severe trials and tribulations (verse 1), the words 'Lord, I take refuge in You' mean the confession that he had taken refuge in God because of his suffering. is.

(verse 14) also says:

“No matter what anyone says, I will depend only on you and will say that you are my God.”

Do you know how a person's instinctive response is when they are tormented with so much pain? Even those who believed in God said, 'It is useless to believe. Where is God?' Rather, they want to run away from God and run away. But for those whom God loves, the reaction is reversed. Rather, because of the unbearable pain, they are running toward God.

'These pains torment me, Lord, but I have trusted in you. I confess to the Lord that only God can help me.' This is how I confess. This is the attitude of those who take refuge in the Lord.

Second, suffering enables us to enjoy the grace that God has stored up (verse 19).

(Verse 19) can be said to be “the core of the entire 31st chapter.” We see that the Word contains overwhelming emotions and surprises.

If so, what kind of grace are you accumulating like that? All 31 chapters can be arranged in several ways. But let's look at a few of them.

(7) At the end, there are these words.

“The Lord cares about my afflictions and knows the pain of my soul.”

It is said that David sought God in his suffering and took refuge in him, and he was not alone.

Another is in (verse 21). There are these words.

“Lord, I praise you. When I was besieged, the Lord bestowed upon me wonderful graces, and I praise thee.”

He said that he escaped from God and that God had given him a wonderful grace. The word “wonderful grace” means “abundant love.” How abundantly you love me. The world looks down on me, but God embraces me with a very, very warm heart.

And in verse 22, he confesses:

“When I was besieged, I was startled and frustrated, thinking, “I am out of the sight of the Lord.” But when I cried out to the Lord, the Lord answered my supplications.”

You have tasted the grace of receiving answers to your prayers. It seems that you are not listening, but I have found a God who hears everything. When the time came, David also subdued all his enemies. God gave it to you. When the time came, I tasted the grace of turning sorrow into a dance. In due time, he knew that God would forgive all sins and give peace to his heart. I experienced amazing answers to prayers.

Are you in pain right now? Avoid God. If you go before God, you will discover how great the grace that He has accumulated for you in suffering. These are not the only things David said. I don't know how many. 'How big is it?' It's huge. Therefore, do not think that only the grace you experienced while suffering in the past is everything. There is no such thing as the maximum of God's grace. It is the grace of God that the more you receive, the more abundant it becomes. We need to know this. Are there some of you who still stand by your side if the pain does not go away? Confess this. 'It seems that there are still many graces that I should receive.' If you look at that grace with the eyes of faith, God will give you amazing blessings.
