Today in Psalm 34, David says in (verse 2), "I will only boast in the Lord." I did. Why would David call God's name great (Psalm 34:3) and boast in the Lord? It is because they have personally experienced the blessings that those who fear the Lord receive. In fact, David, who sang Psalm 34, was in a difficult crisis. Looking at the background of this poem (1 Samuel 21), David was a fugitive who ran away from Saul. (1 Samuel 21:10) It is written "for fear of Saul" and (1 Samuel 21:12) "for fear of Achish king of Gath exceedingly." In order to survive out of fear of humans, he pretends to be crazy and drools on his beard and escapes from the presence of King Achish. And the song he wrote is Psalm 34. What blessing did David receive?
First, you will receive the blessing of ‘delivery’ (verse 7).
David, who became afflicted by the fear of Saul and King Achish, had no choice but to depend on God and look at him. David, who was on the verge of death, had no choice but to cry out, but God was the only answer to his crisis. David was rescued by an angel sent by God.
The miracle of being delivered from tribulation is not something that everyone receives. It is a blessing for those who fear God.
Second, you will receive the blessing of ‘satisfaction’ (verse 9).
Those who fear God receive blessings that are filled with all things.
(Psalm 34:10) "Young lions may read their prey and go hungry, but blessed are those who seek the Lord, and they will lack nothing."
Even on days of hunger and dissatisfaction, the way to get rid of those sufferings is the way of faith. Not the human way. The more difficult it is, the more you will seek and fear the Lord, so please ask for a hard life. The day will surely come when you will be satisfied. The harder it gets, the more I want to talk to God.
Please have faith that fears the Lord. You will find contentment in spirit, soul, and body.
Third, you will receive the blessing of ‘answering’ (verse 17).
(Verse 13) “Do not speak evil with your tongue, nor lie with your lips.”
(Verse 14) “Avoid what is evil, and do only what is good. Do your best until you find peace.”
They say that in order to receive the blessing of long life, we must turn away from evil, and to fear the Lord is to hate evil. Therefore, not only turning away from evil, but also hating evil is faith to fear the Lord and to receive the blessing of longevity.
(Psalm 34:11) "Come, young men, listen to me, and I will teach you the way to fear the Lord."
We must diligently come to the altar and listen to the word of God. When you teach us to fear the Lord, I hope you listen, learn, and do what you see.
Our remaining decision is now to walk as believers who fear God. You must know that there is nothing more important in life than fearing God, and there is no shortcut to happiness in life. God grants countless blessings to those who serve God, who is the source of blessing. Please promise that you will only choose to fear God on this path that I am walking.
