1. The righteous will suffer. (Verses 1-2)
We can see the sad sight of God's people suffering from ungodly people. It has always been the case that the righteous will suffer and be persecuted by the wicked. This is the flow of not only the Psalms, but the entire Old Testament. The same is true of Cain and Abel in Genesis 4. Cain kills Abel out of envy and jealousy over God's acceptance of Abel's sacrifice only. It has already happened since the time of Genesis that those who fear God suffer from evil people. Since then, many prophets have faced difficulties. But this is God's providence. The Bible teaches us that there is a will of God in them.
2. When we are in trouble, we must go to the temple (verses 3-4).
The difficulties God gives us are meant to direct our steps toward the temple. It is to make you realize that the only place you can be comforted when you are in trouble and have no way is the temple of God. God leads us along the highway of Zion through suffering and makes us aware of the preciousness of the temple.
Even if we go through hardships to the point that it is difficult to even go to church, we must have faith and go to the Father. When I go to the temple, my heart is comforted. If I take revenge on my enemies, I may be relieved temporarily, but that is not the right way in God's sight. It cannot be a full reward.
When we face tribulation, we must go to the temple to overcome it and overcome it. You will find answers through the Word and prayer in your father's house. The saints who have received grace receive the blessing of loving the Lord even more in the midst of difficulties.
3. We must discover the God who dwells in the temple (verse 5).
We must long for the God who dwells in the temple. We should not just try to solve difficulties in the temple. The ultimate purpose is to discover God there and to be embraced in God's arms. Therefore, our faith must grow until we find the Lord who dwells in the temple.
It's not the church building that matters. It is important to discover the Lord who dwells there and to have faith in the Lord. We must discover God who lives and works through the church life.
“Lord, who reigns on the throne of heaven, I lift up my eyes to look up to you. Like the eyes of a servant who examines the hand of a master, like the eye of a servant who examines the hand of a mistress, our eyes look up to our God, that the Lord may have mercy on us” (Psalm 123:1-2).
We must look and yearn for only the Lord God. Just as the eyes of a servant look at the hands of their masters and the eyes of a slave woman look at the hands of their mistresses, so we should depend and long for the Lord only. If I make only the Lord my hope, I will have no fear even if the whole world forsakes me.
