According to scholars, Psalm 44 is a song of the steadfast faith of the Maccabees who fought against those who wanted to spread Hellenism. What is that indomitable faith?
First, they did not forget the Lord (verse 17).
The hard and difficult work, the day of falling to death has come. But this psalmist did not forget the Lord. One step stronger, I kept your covenant faithfully and did not break your covenant. Faith is being meek. A believer is to be a compassionate person. A believer is a person who lives by love. But in that softness there is a spirit that can never be broken. It is about keeping your covenant with the Lord and standing faithfully no matter what happens.
Second, they did not betray the Lord (verse 18).
Despite the difficulties with no hope of living, the psalmist did not betray the Lord. My steps did not depart from the way of the Lord. Betrayal is cowardice. Deviating from the Lord's way by betraying is unbelief.
Hebrews 10:35 “Do not forsake your courage, for this has a great reward.”
Heb 10:38 “And if I turn back, my heart will not rejoice in him.”
What pleases God is not avoiding difficulties and escaping for a while. It is about taking on the hardships of those difficulties and moving forward boldly. The psalmist is truly a wonderful person. We walk in the way of the Lord, carrying the pain of life on our own shoulders.
Third, we continued to seek the Lord's help (verse 26).
The psalmist's faith is to rely on God in the midst of suffering. It's not about throwing everything away.
Continue to pray for help. The psalmist confessed his faith in God as follows.
(Psalm 44:6-8) "It is not my bow that I rely on. It is not my sword that has given me victory. Only the Lord has given us victory over our enemies, and those who hate us Because you have put us to shame, we always boast only in our God. Only your name will be praised constantly."
It is a confession that I can do nothing and only God can do it. Because only God can deliver salvation from enemies and enemies, this psalmist prays with the belief that God does it. If you ask God for help, the God who helps will work, so prayer continues even though you are surrounded by difficulties.
If there is anything we can do, it is to pray. Don't give up on the hard work of your job. Don't complain that life gets in the way and that the church is heavy. Help us with our trust in God, and if our prayers continue, He will open a new path. Please be an indomitable believer. I hope that I will become a believer that cannot be broken by the environment, not by Satan, nor by any kind of pain in life. Because Jesus, who lived according to the song of indomitable faith, is the Lord of our faith, we too can be victorious.
