(Text 1) “O warrior, why do you boast about your evil deeds? Why do you keep boasting about the evil you have done to a godly man?” Those who live without God are not ashamed of their evil deeds, but rather boast. But the living God does not bear long with their pride.
What is the lesson of today's sermon?
1. Criticism is the work of Satan (verses 2-4).
People without God like to criticize. They not only hurt the hearts of others with their evil words, but they also cruelly destroy them. This is the fallen life of a man without God.
David does not know how much trouble he suffered because of people's words. (Psalm 109:2-4) says, “For they have opened their mouths of evil and deceit against me, and they have spoken to me with false tongues, and they have surrounded me with hateful words and have attacked me innocently. I love them, but they are against me, so I pray. I just do it,” he said. When we hear evil words, like David, we must put everything before God and endure in faith.
The heart to criticize others is already at work by Satan. If you criticize, your spiritual life will die completely. In the end, not only will you destroy others, but your own soul will also die.
It is easier for anyone to first rebuke a child than to correct them with love. However, you cannot raise a good child by scolding and bullying. So is the church. A criticizing church cannot grow. The church was not built to criticize people. The church is the place to preach the gospel, lead the way to eternal life, and teach the way to fear God and the will of God.
2. Those who criticize are criticized.
In Matthew 7:1-2, Jesus said, “Judge not, lest you be judged, for with the criticism with which you judge, you will be judged, and with the measure with which you measure it it will be measured to you. “He said.
Those who criticize others will be judged themselves and will be judged before God. God rewards us according to what we have done, so we are bound to be judged.
Every human being has flaws. It should not be viewed with the eyes of criticism. It is important to look good with an understanding heart. Saints must be born again with a clean mouth, especially. Please stop criticizing others.
3. Those who fear God are eternal (verses 8-9).
Those who fear God are like the olive tree forever. Olive trees have a very long lifespan, which means longevity. If you go to Israel, there are countless olive trees that are hundreds of years old, and some are over a thousand years old.
The world doesn't last long. Wait. However, the life of the righteous who fears God is eternal like an evergreen olive tree. You will receive eternal blessings and grace.
