There are many enemies in the world who want to harm us innocently. We cannot afford them in our own strength. So David appealed to God to rescue him from his adversary.
What is the spiritual lesson from today's Word?
1. We have many enemies! (Verses 1-3)
David faced difficulties throughout his life. They crossed the Jordan River to avoid their enemies, hid in the wilderness of Judea and in caves, and were always chased from place to place. He discovered the spiritual secret of winning only by relying on God while meeting an enemy that he could never defeat with his own strength.
We also face the same difficulties as David. Those who realize that there are many enemies in this world are those who have opened their spiritual eyes. There are many physical problems with money, children, and health, but we have more spiritual problems than the hairs on our heads. When we look with spiritual eyes, we can see how many our enemies are.
2. God alone is our salvation (verse 4).
No one on this earth can solve our problems. Only God can help me. Therefore, we should pray to God when we are in trouble.
(Psalm 18:2) “The LORD is my rock, my fortress, my deliverer, my God, the rock of my refuge, my shield, the horn of my salvation, and my stronghold.”
David cried out to God during his troubles, and he was saved. Only God, who protects us in any tribulation, is our savior.
3. You must be patient and pray.
There are times when we feel like God is ignoring our pain while we pray earnestly.
In (Psalm 22:1), David also earnestly pleaded, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?
But we have to go through a period of patience and waiting.
(Psalm 42:3) “People say to me all day long, Where is your God? My tears have been my food day and night.”
David overcame difficulties through patience and prayer. We too must wait patiently to the end and continue to cry out to God. The joy of waiting for a long time and receiving an answer is even greater.
Difficulties, once passed, do not go away forever. Throughout our lives in this world, tribulation continues. Therefore, we should not be afraid of difficulties. By always watching and praying, we need to prepare ourselves so that we can bear it generously even if we face difficulties.
It is not true faith to be discouraged and shaken when faced with problems. Believers must be courageous and believe that the Lord is with us even in times of tribulation. We believe that if we depend only on God and pray with patience, we will be victorious.
