Psalm 5 Confession of Love
This psalm expresses David's earnest love for God to hear his prayer. A person wants to associate and communicate with the one he loves. However, when a mistake is made between two people, the relationship between them is neglected. No words, no conversation.
At this time, the two desperately wish for the love relationship to be restored. Perhaps David longed for a conversation with God in the same way. He cried bitterly for his prayer to be heard. That's why we call this Psalm "Confession of Love".
1. Hear my voice (1-3)
David is anxious about what he will do if God does not answer his prayer now, and he earnestly pleads for his prayer to be heard. David appealed to 1) to listen to what he said when he spoke, 2) to examine his thoughts as he poured out his heart, and 3) to be heard when he cried out.
If God wants to hear your prayers in the morning, you say that you will pray in the morning. Taking every possible way that God wants to hear his prayers, and taking into account the times he wants God to hear his prayers, David now earnestly prays that God will hear his prayers.
Although David is the king now, he confesses that his king is only God, and he earnestly prays for his prayer to be heard.
2. I have committed sins that the Lord hates (4-6)
When David prays so earnestly, he realizes how holy the God who hears prayers is and how unqualified he is, and confesses this.
In other words, the God who hears prayer does not take pleasure in iniquity, but he is a man who delights in iniquity. was a liar,
God hates those who shed blood, but he confessed to God that he was the one who shed the blood of Uriah. He realizes that he has no qualifications to go before God and pray.
3. But I look to your house, lead me (7-8)
Nevertheless, David trusts in God's abundant mercy and desires to enter the house of the Lord and worship the Lord there. I beg you to enter your house and fear you.
Just as the prodigal son who left home longs for his father's house, David longs for his father's house now. There we want to fear God and worship God. And I beg you to lead me in the way of the Lord.
I hope you will walk in the path God wants you to go. In the past, we may have walked the wrong path, but from now on, I hope that we will walk in the path the Lord wants us to take.
4. Cast out the enemies who torment me (9-10)
When a prayer repents to some extent and falls into God's arms, he reveals his troubled problems before God and makes an appeal. David now reveals to God the problems of his enemies who are tormenting him.
David's enemies tormenting David are not only David's personal enemies, but also God's enemies who oppose God. “They have rebelled against you.” So David prays that God will condemn them and drive them out.
5. I only take refuge in the Lord, love the Lord and delight in the Lord (11-12)
Finally, David confesses that he will now avoid the Lord and love only the Lord and enjoy only the Lord. "Those who love your name will rejoice in you"
