The author of today's text is David. David wrote many poems. However, if you look at those poems, it is usually about David being chased by enemies, exhausted and struggling in front of problems, then looking to God, gaining hope and proclaiming faith. However, in today's text, the expression of discouragement or fear never appears. Nor is it the earnest prayer in times of danger that is common in other poems. That doesn't mean he wasn't without problems. Despite his problems, his heart is full of trust in God. In front of this situation, he says, “I will focus only on God.” Why?
First, because they knew that only God is the savior (verse 1).
The literal translation of the Hebrew expression is “To God alone, my soul is silent.” David said that he would be silent only to God in the face of problems. Saying "stay quiet" doesn't mean "I don't know, I don't know." To remain silent before God because of a heart that trusts and believes in God means absolute trust.
When we come across a problem, we get nervous that it's going to be a mess. more words. There are resentments and complaints about who made this happen, and that I am unfair. But David sees only God, knowing that it is not a problem that can be solved by holding on to people and complaining.
Why do you only look to God? Because salvation (answer) comes from Him. To believe means to 'wait'. It is waiting for God to work. Faith is trusting and waiting. What problems are you feeling impatient and frustrated with right now? The Lord asks us to wait in prayer. If you don't believe it, you can't trust it or wait. Only those who believe in God's goodness and His power can wait. When I look at God quietly in the face of problems, God is the master of my life. It is a confession that you firmly believe that you are the ruler of the world.
In the text (verse 5), David proclaims to his soul.
“My soul, wait in silence for God alone. My hope is only in God.”
Second, because our lives are fragile (verse 9).
In the sight of God, neither low nor high is nothing. It is said that if we weigh our lives on a scale, it is lighter than our breath. What can we do in this state? Therefore, do not rely only on special occasions, but acknowledge the Lord in everything and pour out your heart from time to time. This is praying without ceasing. Prayer is the best way to rely on God in times of joy, sorrow, peace, or crisis.
So let prayer be the breath of life. If we depend on our God for every moment we live and breathe, and have fellowship with him, God helps us. Then, true peace that cannot be found in the world will rule your heart.
Third, it is because we believe that God pays for everything (verses 11-12).
David was a man of the Holy Spirit who lived by hearing the voice of God. But in verse 12, David confesses that not only ‘power’ but also ‘constant love’ belonged to the Lord. That the mighty God loves me. That loving God knows everything about me and will repay me according to what I have done on the last day. I lived with the belief that a reward would be given to me.
God is accurate. Don't be fooled by our dining out. You see the center. David's life was a life focused on God. Our life is like a single tightrope and driving. If you don't focus all the way to the end, a moment's mistake will ruin everything. Concentration reveals your abilities.
