This psalm of faith reveals David's sorrow for his enemies. He confesses his circumstances and situation to the Lord. What was the content of David's prayer?
1. I appeal to you to protect my life (verse 1).
All around David was the injustice and envy of his enemies. But God saved David by sending him to the desert. David made an earnest appeal. This was the hope of an appeal that he would soon take revenge. The Bible tells us to entrust our enemies to the Lord. Because our God is the protector of life.
2. I hope that He will reveal the sins of evil people (verses 3-6).
In David’s appeal, ‘the crimes of evildoers’ are revealed. It is described as a person who speaks harsh words and shoots arrows secretly. But David was not hurt. It is because God answered David's prayer. God hates injustice. He harms the results of those who do evil. So the righteous will delight in the Lord.
3. Hope for the glory of the righteous (verse 10).
The hope of the righteous is that God's justice will be realized on this earth. This justice is not human, it is God's. What David wanted was a clear impartiality. For his impartiality was joy, beauty, glory and hope. So David's faith was headed for victory. God's judgment will one day get rid of the wicked.
David's hope was that God would punish the wicked and look after the righteous.
