The text is a psalm written by David, and it seems to be related to Psalm 70 that precedes it. And he says he wrote it in his old age. It is the testimony of an old man, and it is also his promise. David, who reigned supreme in a tumultuous era, said, “I will always live with hope.”
The phrase ‘I will always live with hope’ refers to the day when one’s life ends. Why did he say this? This is because he came to this world as a human and wanted to end his life beautifully after giving birth to a tumultuous life. Then, “I will always put my hope in you alone, and I will praise you more and more” (verse 14). What is the reason?.
1. Because the Lord has been your refuge all your life (verses 1, 7).
Whenever people face difficulties and trials, they take refuge in such a safe place. He also said, “Lord, I take refuge in you” (verse 1 of the text). In verse 7, it says, “Only the Lord has been my secure refuge.”
In this way, whenever David was in danger, God became his refuge and protected and protected him. Even though it was difficult and difficult, he is professing that he will “always live with hope” in the future.
2. Because he trusted in the Lord all his life (verse 6).
David lived in hope of the Lord from a very young age. I depended on him and lived. He is praising him now because he experienced the wonderful grace of God, whom he had depended on since childhood.
It is a grace of grace to believe in Jesus and live a blessed life in old age. However, if you have been saved by believing in Jesus since you were young and living your whole life, that would be a real blessing and a grace of grace.
When David was a young shepherd, he set aside his seven older brothers and was anointed by Samuel. When he was young, he fought the Philistines and defeated Goliath. All of these things were the grace of God who helped him from an early age.
Now David is thankful to the Lord as he recalls these things, “I will always praise the Lord.” I hope we all have this confession of gratitude.
3. It is because the Lord has been with you all your life (verses 10-12).
In the human world, today's friend may become tomorrow's enemy. Sometimes, depending on their own interests, they betray and throw away. But the Lord has never forsaken us.
The God who was with David never forsakes him. He never once left him and went far away. He was never indifferent or ignorant. Therefore, it is natural to live with hope in the Lord.
Christianity is the religion of hope. Most people think of hope as the lifeline of life. Even if it is said that people live according to their wishes, I do not think it is a wrong expression.
Thank you that we have faith and hope in God, and thank you for living in dependence on the Lord. It was because of his faith that David said, “I will always put my hope in the Lord and praise the Lord more and more.”
I hope that you will live with the hope that David had today as well. I hope to live with David's great faith.
