‘Love the brother in the Lord’ (Luke 15:21-32)
Jesus' parable of the prodigal son shows how much God loves sinners. At the same time, it shows the conflict between two sons who serve one father, but it tells us that God loves all of God's children just as a father loves both sons. The new family members like the second son who returned home and all the saints like the older brother received God's love and became God's children. Therefore, we should strive to love one another in the Lord.
1. second son born again
The second son, who became the prodigal son, left home and struggled until he finally returned to his father's side. Therefore, he did not dare to ask that he be his son again, but he tried to make him one of the hired men of his father's household. However, the father said that his son had died and came back to life, and he forgave all his sins and held a great feast. In the same way, God forgives all sins through the blood of Jesus Christ and makes him a child of God if anyone repents and returns. All the new families who have come to our church are such precious people.
2. First son protesting
But the eldest son did not understand his father's actions. I misunderstood why my father showed such favoritism to my younger brother who had left the house by asking for his own in advance. And even though he was always doing a lot of work with his father, he did not hold a feast, and he complained that only his younger brother held a great feast. In this way, we need to look back on whether only I was trying to receive God's love in the church and there was no interest in new family members.
3. All Mine is Yours
My father comforted my brother and said, “Son, you are always with me, and all that is mine is yours.” And he said, “This brother of yours was dead and is alive, and we should rejoice and rejoice because I was lost and found.” We must understand the heart of our Heavenly Father like this. God is eagerly waiting for a soul to repent and return, and He values that soul more than the world. Therefore, we should love our new family as brothers in the Lord and lead a life of faith like a family together.
The church is the kingdom of God and is like a family. Because all Christians who live with God the Father are brothers and sisters. Therefore, we should pray for and help new families grow in faith while caring for them warmly and with love. At that time, we will form a beautiful church that is pleasing to God.
