Title Reason for Allowing the Wilderness
Contents
Ex) the image of the wilderness
body description
God made them spend 40 years in the wilderness on a road that would be enough to travel in one month as a rule of thumb.
Why did you do that?
1. It was to know the hearts of the people of Israel (verse 2).
‘test’ - Hebrew (nassa) - ‘proof’, ‘confirm’
If you look at this word in the joint translation, it is translated as “to trouble you and give you trials”.
You can see that God has been trained to know the true heart of God's people, not their pretentious ones, in order to be confirmed as God's people.

Now, they are still not free from the spirit of slavery.
And because of the influence of idolatry in Egypt, the concept of God is not perfect.
We don't really know who God is.
So, when Moses went up the mountain to receive the Law from Mount Sinai, didn't he make a golden calf and worship God by making a god who brought us out of Egypt?
And moment by moment, we are in the midst of disobedience, resentment, and complaints.
It is difficult to enter Canaan in such a state.
Because of this, God had to build them up with a stronger, more perfect faith.
2. It is to let people know that we live by the word of God (verse 3).
Man cannot live on bread alone.
Of course, food, clothing and shelter are important to us, and among them, eating is the most important.
There is even a proverb that says, “Even after meals at Mt. Geumgang, even if you have a beard, you must eat a yangban.
So Satan tempted Jesus by fasting forty days and eating first when he came out.
Generally, we interpret the words of verse 3 as “Man needs food for the body, but more important than that is food for the soul, that is, the word of God.”
Yes.
But Moses is speaking from a different angle.
“We need food for our bodies, but even if we don’t have it, doesn’t God feed us with ‘manna’ that comes out of God’s mouth (the Word)!”
Jesus describes this situation as follows in Matthew 6:31-33.
“Therefore do not be anxious and say, What shall we eat, what shall we drink, or what shall we wear.
These are all the Gentiles seek, for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
In the barren wilderness, where there was nothing, God fed and guided the Israelites so that they would not die of starvation for 40 years.
This is grace.
When we say we believe in God, why don't we try to live by the word, but by receiving supplies from the world and living by the power of the world?
We need to check this issue thoroughly.
The world may satisfy you for a while, but nothing will satisfy you forever.
What we can know through the wilderness is that they can change their lives of unbelief and disobedience to a godly life, and a life of obedience and gratitude.
To make them God's people, not slaves.
God could have given Canaan right away.
Because they suffered as slaves in Egypt, it was possible to quickly give them stable land and a house to farm, so that they could spend comfortable days and worship God.
But that's not the point.
First, it is important to become God's people.
Personality as a child of God is important.
There is no crime if you have it and possess it.
Those who have only possessions, have no faith, and have no personality, have rather had things they do not have.
First, you must become a man of God.
Now we are walking in the wilderness.
I hope that all of you will live by God's Word, giving your whole faith before God, and your heart toward the true God without being wrapped up.
At that time, verse 10 of God's blessings will be fulfilled.
“You shall eat and be satisfied, and you will praise the LORD your God for giving you good soil.”
