Grounds for Gratitude

Hab 3:17-19 “Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, 18 I will rejoice in the LORD. I will rejoice in the God of my salvation. 19 The Sovereign LORD is my strength; he will make my feet like deer, he will make me walk on my heights. This song is set to my harp for a warrant.' - Amen.

When you have a heart to say thank you or say

1) I feel happy because I am blessed with what I receive and what I am blessed with.

2) Otherwise, we can be thankful even if things don't work out like the prophet of Habakkuk. It is easy to be thankful when we believe in God and receive some benefits, but how can we be thankful when it doesn't? We learn the deep will of God through the text. We want to become saints who can count on the world and gain strength through gratitude like the prophets of Haba. I would like to think of a few reasons why we Christians are thankful.

1. Salvation and eternal life are the basis of all thanks

Therefore, the assurance of salvation should be the most important content in all Christian faith. If you are not sure of your salvation, you will fall into an uncontrollable temptation when you have complaints and dissatisfaction. As Jesus died on the cross for us, He endured all the punishment we deserve, and if we just believe, we will receive the forgiveness of sins and the covenant of God. Sacrifice was an unprecedented event in the world.

2 Thessalonians 2:13-14 “We ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, because God chose you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification of the Holy Spirit and faith in the truth.14 called you through our gospel for that purpose, that you may receive the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

We go to church together and believe in Jesus, but there is a difference in how we thank the Lord for each person. In Luke 7:36 and below, when Jesus entered the house of a Pharisee and was sitting down, a woman, a sinner from the town, came to Jesus, brought an alabaster jar of perfume, and stood behind Jesus at his feet, and wet his feet with her tears. He washed his hair, kissed his feet, and anointed them with perfume. Then Jesus asked Simon the Pharisee. There were two debtors to the debtor, one owing five hundred denarii and the other fifty denarii, and he forgave them both because he had nothing to repay. He answered, I think he is the one who has been forgiven much. He said to me, You are right.

And he turned to the woman and said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? When I came into your house, you gave me no water to wash my feet, but she wet my feet with her tears and washed with her hair; you did not kiss me, but I You have not ceased kissing my feet from the time you entered, and you have not poured olive oil on my head, but he has poured perfume on my feet. Therefore I say to you, many sins are forgiven him, because he loves so much. He who receives little loves little” (Luke 7:36-47).

Even looking at the same Bible, some people value the lesson that we should bear our cross well, like Jesus who died on the cross, and others, because Jesus took up the cross, we do not need to lose, we only receive benefits. There are those who claim that you should enjoy it.

2. Thank God for helping us through hardships

The text reads that the Jewish kingdom was stained with sin, and King Jehoiakim was a criminal who oppressed the people with tyranny and killed innocent people. The country was tainted with all kinds of corruption, and God saw this and used the Chaldeans as a whip and made them strike Judea.

In this difficult situation, the Prophet Habakuk also had doubts, complained to God about the absurd history of the times and waited for God's answer, but even his circumstances made it difficult to live according to the text, so that the good will be blessed and the evil will be punished History did not go back correctly due to the evil punishment received.

But even in the midst of prayer and affliction, Habakkuk, the famous phrase used by Paul in Romans (Romans 1:17), Hab 2:4, 'Behold, his heart is arrogant, and dishonest within him. I have left behind the famous saying, 'I will live because of it'.

We must have a clear definition of what it means to live by faith. Living by faith these days is misunderstood as only being blessed with material things and prospering. However, if the Bible thinks that only outward prosperity is God's blessing and tribulation is punishment, you are mistaken.

Romans 8:28 "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose."

We don't really know what our condition will be or what our future will be like. Sometimes, we can cause misunderstandings to God like Habakkuk. However, if you pray deeply and seek God's will, you will find answers.

Hebrews 12:6,8,10 “For the Lord disciplines those he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives.” 8 Discipline is all discipline, but if you do not have it, then illegitimate children and not true sons. He disciplined us according to his will, but God makes us partakers of his holiness for our good.”

Therefore, we will have no choice but to give thanks in all things when we believe that He will give us eternal life and give thanks to the fact that He will give us tribulation so that we can become good children. That is why 1 Thessalonians 5:18 says, 'In everything give thanks, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.' This is not to say that we should be thankful unconditionally without any countermeasures or reasons. It is a word to say thank you because such a deep meaning is hidden.

The three major festivals that the Old Testament people must observe (Ex 23:14-17; Le 23:4-8, 15-21, 34-43), the Passover (the Feast of Unleavened Bread), the Feast of Weeks (Pentecost, the Feast of Harvests), the Feast of Tabernacles (the Feast of Tabernacles, the Feast of Ingathering) is.

The Feast of Unleavened Bread commemorates the Exodus, the Feast of Seven Weeks is the Feast of Harvest, and the Feast of Tabernacles is a thanksgiving given after harvesting of crops and fruits in the fall.

The word 'Feast of Tabernacles' is derived from the building of booths in the vineyard for produce, and it is kept for 7 days (Ex 23:16; 34:22). This is January in the Hebrew calendar, which corresponds to around September and October in the solar calendar. As a follow-up to this feast, we keep Thanksgiving Sunday today, but the fact that our saints deserve special thanks is that we have been saved, and there are those who can give thanks spiritually by thanking them for protecting us in this and that case throughout the year and giving us a better whip it should be

3. Audit Format

1) Thank you with your body

Romans 12:1 “Therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.” The reaction is possible in several ways.

Romans 14:8 "If we live, we live for the Lord; if we die, we die for the Lord; therefore whether we live or die, we are the Lord's."

2) Thank you with material

Exodus 23:15 “You shall observe the feast of unleavened bread, and you shall eat unleavened bread for seven days at the appointed time in the month of Abib, as I have commanded you, for in that month you came out of Egypt, and you shall not show me empty-handed.” It's not just a sign, but if you don't have a heart, it's difficult to give money and material things. If you have a sincere heart, you can express your gratitude without regret.

Psalm 116:12 “With what shall I repay all the favors the Lord has given me?”

A person who gives thanks to God in daily life is full of peace and grace. A person who is consistent with complaints is always dissatisfied with his brother or with others. The world is always a difficult and difficult world rather than an easy one. Nevertheless, we are only grateful because we have the hope of life as those who have received eternal life.

Also, if you are trying to lead a good life of faith, you should know that God will guide you even when it is difficult, and you should not lose the spirit of gratitude like the prophet Habaguk, who can give thanks in tribulation with patience and hope. I pray that you will be able to live a life where you can give thanks aloud for yourself and give thanks from the center.
