Title Reason for Failure

reason for failure

1 Samuel 15:1-9

In order to be successful once in a lifetime, you must not follow the path of failure. In the Bible, a representative figure of failure appears, and that is Saul, the first king of Israel. If an ordinary person became a king, he would have succeeded greatly, but in the end, he failed and ended his life with a tragic end. What is the reason for the failure? King Saul wins the battle against Amalek that God commanded. However, it was a complete failure in God's eyes. For some reason, God was very angry, and he declared the dethronment of Saul. God groaned deeply because of Saul's iniquity (1 Samuel 15:11). What was the specific reason for Saul's failure? This is the reason for the failure.

1. I did not listen to God's word.

The basis of faith is listening to the Word. Believers in God are not those who live according to their own thoughts, but those who live according to the will of God. Therefore, first of all, we must listen to the Word of God. Looking at Psalm 1, what kind of person did you say you are blessed with? Blessed are those who do not listen to the world, but meditate on God's Word and listen to God's voice. We must live by hearing the word of God. If you start to listen to the sounds of the world, you will lose your mind, and eventually you will be destroyed. Proverbs 16:20 “He that pays attention to his word finds good; blessed is he who trusts in the Lord.” This is the way to live. It is the road to victory. It is the path to victory in life. Personally, I encourage you to read and meditate on the Word daily. And we need to focus on the Word every time we worship. You have to listen.

2. We do not obey God's Word.

Not listening to the Word and not listening to the Word are problems, but not obeying the Word after hearing the Word is a bigger problem. God clearly told Saul to destroy the Amalekites. You were very specific too. But Saul chooses the Word. He did what he wanted, but did not obey God's Word. Obedience to and disobedience to God's Word becomes a crossroads between blessings and curses in life (Deuteronomy 11:26-28). The reason that water turned into wine at the wedding feast in Cana was because we had abandoned common sense and obeyed the Lord's word. Naaman was healed of leprosy not because of the water in the Jordan River, but because he obeyed God's word. Obedience produces miracles. But Saul ignores the word because it is different from his own thoughts. And they willfully disobey because of their lust for materiality and lust for fame. The lust for honor to keep Agag alive and show off, and the lust for material things to have good things came into play. Unfortunately, God was angry because of this disobedience, and Saul had no choice but to perish.

3. You evaded responsibility with excuses.

God rebukes Saul through Samuel. What did Saul say then? Saul selects all the good words and gives excuses. (1 Samuel 15:20-21) This is the characteristic of a sinner. All humans since Adam are like that! After Adam and the woman ate of the forbidden fruit, God pointed out why they did this, and Adam said that the woman God gave to be with me and that he ate it because he gave it to me. I have a habit of doing it. The characteristic of sinners is to blame others and pass the blame on to others. The words “who for whom” and “what for what” should be replaced with “nevertheless”. You have to change the habit of making excuses to win. When you accept and handle the environment or conditions that are given to you, your ability will appear. You can only win when you have the habit of taking responsibility for yourself. If you are always resentful, complaining, blaming others and blaming the environment, you will never win.

4. Because I always regret it.

Anyone can make mistakes. And failure is common in life. In fact, even if you fail, you can win next time. It can also be a stepping stone to a greater victory. But the problem is that even after failing, he keeps making excuses and always regrets. Believers should not repent and repent. True repentance involves conversion and resolution. It's a change of direction. On the other hand, regret is just regretting where you are. It's completely different. There is no progress in regret. There is progress in repentance.

Saul was always a man of regret. When David, who was being chased, saves him, he feels remorse and regrets. But only then. There is no turning back from his evil deeds. There was no change. Comparing Saul and David, it may be that Saul was more prosperous as a person. But the difference between David and Saul is the difference between repentance and regret. David also made a mistake, but he repents thoroughly. The same is true of the difference between Peter and Judas Iscariot. Both betray Jesus. But Peter repented, but Judas Iscariot did not turn back and went down the road of destruction.

Successful people have good reasons. The same goes for those who fail. We need to keep deep in our hearts as to why Saul had no choice but to fail and use him as a teacher. I pray that you will surely win without falling into the habit of failure.
