Title Reason for Failure/Joshua 7:11
Content Reason for failure/Joshua 7:11
“Israel has sinned and has broken my covenant, which I commanded them; and they took the fully devoted thing, and stole and deceived and placed it among their possessions” (Joshua 7:11)
A ship that was passing through Irish waters sank. The captain was a very careful man, and the weather wasn't too bad, but the ship hit a reef and sank. While searching for the cause of the sinking, a small piece of iron was found inside the compass. One of the sailors was cleaning the compass with his pocketknife when the tip of the knife broke and was left behind, a small piece of iron pointing the compass in the wrong direction.
Why did Israel lose the battle of Ai?
First, it was because of sin. God commanded the Israelites not to take anything of any kind when they captured Jericho. However, a soldier named Achan became greedy and went into a wealthy house in Jericho and secretly hid an expensive coat and silver and gold. As a result, according to God's word, 36 soldiers were killed in the battle of Ai. Achan's sin was revealed when Joshua heard God's voice and cast lots to find the culprit, and Achan and his family were stoned to death. In this way, sin must be revealed. And it affects not only yourself, but also your family and others.
Second, it failed because of pride. When the Israeli soldiers destroyed the strong city of Jericho, they prepared thoroughly both religiously and militarily. However, in the Battle of Ai Castle, he was intoxicated with a sense of victory, and was dismissed as a small castle. “Therefore, let him who thinks he is standing take heed least he fall” (1 Corinthians 10:12).
Third, without prayer, we fail. They did not ask God before the war. Joshua himself did not pray. We must have faith to ask God. When choosing a mate, when choosing a profession or job, when meeting people, when choosing a church, you must pray. Don't make decisions based on your own will. Nothing should take precedence over prayer in everything.
Everyone, when you fail, don't blame or blame others, and don't hate anyone. Let's find the cause of the problem in ourselves.
