Title: Reminiscing on a Year

Bible: Deuteronomy 8:4

2009.12.27. day

We are having a worship service on the last Sunday of this year. Looking back on this year, in one word, I thank God. Thank God. It only comes out of words.

This year is reminiscent of a drama. Drama is like that.

If we look at the stages of construction of a novel, it is the beginning - the development - the crisis - the climax - the ending. So it always ends beautifully.

Today's text is about the people of Israel after 40 years of passing through the wilderness, looking at the Jordan River, looking back on the past 40 years, and giving thanks for God's grace.

“Your garments did not part, and your feet did not swell during these forty years.”

It seems impossible, but realizing that we have come this far miraculously, we are proud of all that God has given us. In the wilderness, there must have been no food, but we were not hungry, we were not weaned, but we were not wearing frayed clothes, and our shoes were not worn properly, but we are thankful that our feet were not swollen.

Then we explain why in detail. Do not be arrogant, be humble and always depend on God.

1. Through the construction of the temple

This year, the interest and prayer of all our members was the temple building. The core of my ministry was building the temple.

Construction of the temple, which started on July 10 last year, started to stop on October 30. The contractor tried to find a line of funding to continue the project so as not to stop it. However, to make matters worse, the financial crisis that started in the United States came like a tide in Korea, and all banks were busy trying to save themselves, and financial loans were blocked at each bank.

Even the contractor who built our church could no longer get a loan from any bank. So, after the Lunar New Year this year, I couldn't solve the wage problem, so I officially raised my hand.

And as of January 23rd, the contract was canceled, and the contents certificates from the contractor, subcontractors, and material dealers that occurred from that time were sent out every day, and the settlement of the final payment agreement with the contractor caused a lot of pain.

I decided to fast and pray for a week, so I fasted from Monday to Friday, and prayed when all the members of the congregation gathered.

There was a meeting of the building committee almost every week, and there was a great commotion in which workers came to the church 2-3 times a month because of the issue of wages.

The members are worried about the construction of the temple, but the road is long and there is no way ahead. I was desperate to find another way. Also, there were some conflicts between me and the saints here.

But God never forgot us. God has been guiding us in a good way.

On August 11th, we officially agreed on the construction amount and payment method with Hana, and on November 10th we also signed a contract with Dawon, a follow-up contractor that we had been in contact with.

And now, the construction of the temple is progressing graciously.

Looking back over the past year, there is so much to be grateful for.

2. Thank God for sending a follow-up contractor.

It was a time of prayer over the selection of a follow-up contractor. After the morning worship service, I prayed that God would send a construction worker as soon as possible and help me to start building the temple again soon, but I got an answer that I had already sent it. At that time, I was still discussing with Dawon without making a decision. That's when I realized that Dawon was an enterprise sent by God.

Of course, it was not easy among various discussions after that. However, the negotiations went well and the construction is progressing well now.

It is expected to be completed and enlisted in March of next year. You don't know how thankful I am to God.

“Call me in the day of trouble. I will deliver you, and you will glorify me.”

Are you in tribulation right now? God gives the beginning - the development - the crisis - the climax - the ending, but the end is always the best and the most beautiful. Hallelujah!

So please look forward to it.

3. Thank you for helping all the saints gain strength again with one heart.

At one time, even the Saints had many complaints. I also doubted. But again, I am so thankful that we understand each other, embrace each other, and become one.

Dissatisfied hearts must build the temple. changed to justification. My doubts were changed to the conviction that nothing is impossible because God is with me. From the mindset that I couldn't do it, I actively changed it to Let's try to do it.

How is this not God's grace? So how can we not be grateful?

I give thanks to God, and I also sincerely thank all the saints.

4. Rather, thank you for increasing your faith.

God made strong in weakness. Blessings through tribulation. Diamonds and diamonds made in hardship and adversity.

God who led Joseph through hardship and made him the prime minister of Egypt! And God, who led us to save our father and his brothers, also led us in the same way.

God who protected David from the sword of King Saul! He was our God.

The believers have grown in faith like this through many tribulations this year. It will be bigger in the future. It will be a giant. I grew up with faith enough for one person to bear a hundred and ten people to bear a thousand. Praise God for preparing this. Thank God.

5. Thank you for giving me a new hope.

God comes to us in darkness and gives us the light of hope. He came to those who had lost hope and were discouraged and gave them courage and dreams.

We now see the dream of a new temple in front of our eyes. The time to truly thank God is approaching.

It is the promised land. It is a land flowing with milk and honey. It is the ark of salvation in which the glory of God is fully revealed. Thank you. Let's read the words of the text out loud once more and give glory to God.

“In these forty years, your garments did not part, and your feet did not burn.”
